I'm gutted. I was hoping to get a nice mid 90's high spec motor, lot of car for little dough. Cant now can I?
I heard you can re-register if its already yours in Dubai, but AD. However no doubt all Emirates will follow the AD way eventually so your screwed.

The rule has not been explained properly:
Cars over 10 years old can be bought and sold and the registration transferred...but only in the emirate of original registration. So you cannot sell your 10 year old car to someone in Abu Dhabi if its registered in Dubai. This is classified as an export. Similarly, you cannot import a car from outside that is more than 10 years old.
Cars over 20 years old are forced to be taken off the road and crushed unless it complies with a set of rules that classify it as a cherished or veteran car. It will have to be inspected by the RTA.
You cannot ride a bike on a car license, there is a specific category for it. If you have a European or UA bike rating, this can be transferred over.

comparing it with gulfnews., that is discrepant..
1. as of jan 2009: cars older than 10 years cannot be transferred.
2. '' : not more than 20 years old cars can be renewed.
3. '' : not more than 5 years old cars can be imported.
4. as of jan 2010 : not more than 15 years old cars can be renewed.
RTA is still yet to decide.
