i need an advise...I've only been in dubai for a few months and I don't know most of the rules here regarding tenancy. so here's my situation. I'm living in a flat, in 1 room there are 8 of us there. then the others are just single rooms with couple. Recently I ask permission to leave the flat but the landlady don't want me to leave unless i gave here a month notice then still pay the rent to the month and stay there. :( If I don't agree with her terms she will not give me my deposit, and have to forfeit half of it. What is my right regarding this matter.
Hope you could help me....thank you.

you can consult a lawyer but i suggest if the deposit is not big enough just leave as there is nothing the landlady can do about it.
Otherwise you can fight back and tell the landlady if she doesn't pay you back the deposit then you will make sure to trash the place before you suddenly leave without notice.
Be good, Be bad, your choice.
Cheers,
D

this living situation is actually ILLEGAL ... find urself a place, tell the landlady that if she doesnt pay u up - u just gonna go and get the POLICE (works all the time) as everyone knows u cannot sublet a flat to eight ppl in a room!!!!..tell her u can get away by saying that u were new in the country BUT she doesnt have an excuse and will have to loose far more than the pesky deposit that she owes u...
