Question about insurance for emergencies in Dubai?

jag Hey all, Just wondering, what do you all have to cover you in the event of an emergency, such as (god forbid) you are involved in a bad car accident, or a nasty fall, or something accidentally and need emergency surgery and hospitalization. Does your insurance foot the bills in this case? Can anyone suggest some reliable and decently priced insurance providers here in Dubai that would be able to offer this? I already have medical and dental, but it doesnt include this emergency insurance, and one could be put in a bad position here suddenly with crazy hospital bills of a couple of hundred thousand dirhams!!
vixnax If you have a ministry of health card you are covered in government hospitals...that's right isn't it folks? Only if you go private do the costs shoot up. I had an accident followed by super duper keyhole surgery and it cost me 200 dhs in total including 3 day stay in government hospital...it was fine! Chocoholic Sadly not everyone has a Government Health car, I was never given mine! I have private health insurance with GoodHealth, they're validated by a UK company and it's pretty reasonable on cost and covers alot of things apart from dental. But the thing I like about it, is that it's a global cover, so I'm covered whenever I travel as well. I made sure that it has repatriation on the cover so I can be flown back to the UK for any treatment if necessary, plus exac and stuff like that. Plus they pay up pretty fast as well, if I have to go to the doctors, I pay myself them submit the claim form and I normally have a cheque back within 3 weeks. If it's a big expense then the company will pre-approve treatment so you don't pay anything. It's pretty good. jag Chocoholic Who knows Jag, I work for Federal Government so go figure. Well with my insurance any large medical bills are covered by direct payment, they just get pre-approval first from the insurance company. I'm really not fussed about paying a couple of hundred dirhams for the doctors then claiming it back, as I said it's very quick so dones't really bother me. You see many insurance companies have direct billing only with certain hospitals or clinics - no thanks - I want to choose my own. jag
Yep, couple hundred is the normal deductible usually, thats ok. Can you give me the website address of your insurance guys? Being able to use any hospital is also something I would like..
Cheers,
Jag Chocoholic Don't know their website Jag, but here's their phone number give them a call and get them to send you some info. Goodhealth 04 3240040 Defo My health insurance is provided and arranged by my company. But I guess (and heard) most companies in Media City are doing this.. jag
Cheers :) fayz This is the company I use but I’ve actually never claimed anything so I don't know how good they are, nor did I shop around. I actually posted this info before but oddly I couldn't find it, while searching, oh well, maybe got deleted. Good luck
