Qatar to fund movie of the prophet

Roadtester They say they aren;t going to depict him so im wondering how they going to do it?
melika969 you can refer to all other movies about him like "Muhammad Rasul Allah" with Anthony Queen starring, and lots of Irani movies abt prophet and Imams, they never depict any of them. you can only hear their voice. sometimes there is a guy representing him, that they don't show the face, just a circle shaped light instead of head. event horizon I think I read in the news that Qatar had just ordered 5000 gallons of fake blood to be shipped there for their upcoming movie on the prophet. Seems logical. shafique ^eh - no I don't think they'll be covering the Crusades, those events took place long after the Prophet's, pbuh, time. But then again, it is apt that you are thinking of 'special effects' - these are often used for films about fantasies. ;) Roadtester - there was a hollywood film called 'The Message' from ages ago - it starred Anthony Quinn as Hamza. It's a film I haven't actually watched in full yet - must check if the torrent is available. (I think it is this film that melika is referring to) This latest project sounds interesting - I'm sure it will dispel some of the lingering myths about the Prophet, pbuh, that some still harbour. Cheers, Shafique Roadtester maybe shafique - but i think it could also be controversial as Im sure people in the muslim world won't like the interpretation. I just hope people won't try burning US embassies like they did when the Danish cartoons came out lol. There was discussion on mel gibson's interpretation for the passion and people were saying hes part of some wacky christian cult. shafique I hope there won't be protests - but lets see. I don't recall anyone being offended or protesting against 'the Message' - and it's been Muslims who have been telling me to watch it. Mel Gibson's passion of Christ just followed the narrative that is in the New Testament - unfortunately in the past 50 years this is now taboo and the history has been re-written so that the Italians are the bad guys and the Jews are absolved of what Luke, Matthew etc wrote (that 'on their heads' be the guilt for crucifying Jesus). It is fascinating to me to see Christians argue that the Bible was corrupted by Anti-Semitical gospel authors in order to absolve Pilate of blame, just so that they are not seen as anti-semitic today. That Gibson is viewed as an anti-Semite because of his film and what he said when arrested, just causes me to chuckle. Effectively, the argument is that a literal interpretation of the Passion account in the Bible is anti-Semitic and we should ignore it and now believe the revisionist version that it was the Italians' fault (well, ok Romans) after all. Cheers, Shafique Flying Dutchman Who is playing Aisha? shafique
Oh dear, I guess we'll have more of the 'we know what Islam is truly about' lines from those who continue to live in the Orientalist past and who continue to believe the misinformation about Islam and early personages.
As for who will portray the wives of the Prophet, pbuh, - we'll have to see who the 'best international talent' will be, won't we. ;)
Cheers,
Shafique event horizon macaulay culkin is all grown up. :( melika969
If I was the dirctor I will choose "Salma Hayek" or "Sharon Stone" for Aisha role. Of course if I could put make up on them like they are 9 yrs old!

shafique Well, you could have two actresses to portray the young girl and also the grown woman who led an army into war and was revered as one of the great reporters of Hadith into her old age. I guess that the 'true message'of Islam will also dispel the slanders against the Prophet, pbuh, in respect of his marriages. :) Cheers, Shafique event horizon
I see shafique is dropping big words he doesn't know the meaning of, again.
Perhaps you'll explain how Muhammad having 10 wives at once, including his first cousin and three females under the age of 18 (one was nine when her marriage was consummated to prophet Muhammad) is slander?
The dictionary seems to say that slander is the spreading of patently false information. Pray tell, what about mentioning Aisha's age - that she was only nine when a fifty year old man had relations with her, is patently false and, therefore, slanderous? melika969 What are u saying eh? you don't know! he was an ideal husband! go read about him!! :D :D :D shafique Hey, I was just picking up on the fact that the movie will be telling the true message of Islam. I know some of you think you are experts on the subject - but why don't we wait and see what the film shows and see whether it agrees with your views on early Islam or not? Cheers, Shafique event horizon
I always find it interesting how you drop opinions like 'true' into your posts and pass them off as fact.
But just to humor you (or myself), if the film presents an unfavorable view of prophet Muhammad, will you still claim the film is telling the 'true' message of Islam, or will it suddenly become 'orientalist spin'?
Of course, you seem to be the one who is portraying an expert. But perhaps you'll admit you're not knowledgeable enough to understand the difference between Orientalist spin from serious research?
That would certainly explain why you must trawl through google looking for any non-Muslim who writes something favorable about Muhammad. shafique Why don't we wait and see what the film shows and then see whether anyone (you or I) have an issue about it. I'm sure I'd have an issue if Geert Wilders made a film that purported to be a 'true' portrayal of Islam - but then again, so would all the modern day scholars who laugh at the quaint Orientalist ideas he has about Islam. Cheers, Shafique Navigator There is an english version - "The Messge" and an arabic one - "Al Risula". I have watched them both recently. And find them very emotional. Does anyone belives that more emotional and more historic movie about Prophet (Peace be upon Him) could be made now? Anyway, it is interesting to watch. PS: what's names of iranian movies about islamic history? any english translations?
