No, we have a stalker. Actually, an instigator. This is merely a source of entertainment for some, but for others, it takes on a more serious note. I guess this is where he gets his adrenalin rush.

Well my husband goes to this place (I think it's in Deira) that is men only where they scrub you down and remove all the dead skin and then you get a massage. I know it's not expensive, but he comes back feeling really refreshed and his skin is glowing. Recommend that you bring your own towel, shorts and flip flops. It is not high end, but he goes at least once a month. If interested, I will get the details and pass them on to you.

Speedhump..
Yes I may have been over sensitive the other day and reacted/attacked and that may have had thousands of reasons. The point here is, on the forum, every day, people order others to be cool, we read people telling people to do things in a certain way/s or not to do it at all, we call people with names, use the joke/sarcasm as an alibi to hurt.
Those orders carry certain messages like do it my way, be cool, get over it and learn to take the verbal abuse etc..
Asking people to be cool is asking them to fit in, learn to be strong, basically, to change. Do you think we can teach people those things online..
By doing these we hurt individuals, hurt their feelings, scare them, make them unsafe, we may also cause them emotional pain.
I don’t think this is a boot camp, or a correction centre, people will behave badly or out of ordinary because each one of us are different individuals with different backgrounds, family/culture. The forum should be the resource where people take good things home from, think about and change themselves willingly; which is the safest way to do.
The important thing here is to understand how/why people behave the way they do. That knowledge allows us to get along with others, and with their ideas.
I may be able to ignore/accept your messages and come back, however, for somebody else that may come across as criticism, which might be damaging; they may shy away, shut down or hide.
A member revealed a health issue the other day and next day someone else used it as a weapon to attack; very dangerous !!
Passing judgment/attacking others when done in the comfort of our homes, front of a screen, is easy. We simply type the words without thinking the affects that might have on others.
This isn’t about keeping members happy, this is about being kind to other human beings without being judgmental, respecting differences and helping them in their need to change –if there’s the need- by putting our knowledge into the forum, not filling it with orders/borders. if you’re different in some way, be proud of it! Kia Kaha- stand strong
There are members that stopped posting simply because they encounter harshness and cruelty, because they have different ideas that clash with other’s.
Surely people will come, stay on, enjoy or not, will stay or will leave, but at the end of the day, they should make the decision to leave, not be forced into. If you go back and do some backward reading you will see..
There’re also highly intelligent individuals here on the forum with willingness to teach, make a difference in our lives, who see the need for change that would help us to integrate better/quicker.
Please do not take this as the reflection of my offense to your post; this has truly noting to do with that, this is something I have been noticing ever since I signed on the forum.
I think we all have the responsibility to provide a safe, learning and fun environment for everyone; on the forum, and out in life. :) :)

Misery Called Life
Hey Muyesser nice speech. But an alternate to your argument would be...... look this is an online forum. It's the one place I can be myself, no hypocrisy. Just let me be.
I think many on such forums people tend to show their true colors albeit behind a veil of secrecy.
And when certain people are judgmental, rude, mocking etc... it's just in their nature to be so.
Besides many just joke around on these forums, one's word shouldn't be life and death.
So muyesser when one say's just chill it's just a way of saying, don't take the things said on this forum too seriously, many don't really mean it.
By and large we're just strangers, so don't feel bad or take to heart what's said. Unless you really know some one.
It's not realistic to be so sensitive.

Hi muyesser.
I can see this is something that has been on your mind for a while. Your views are interesting. In such an open medium as this, the ultimate control over people's words and action are moderators of the forums. They 'should' be the ones dictating the tone of the overall message that people get from visits to DF.
However, there has absolutely to be a certain robustness to people's attitudes to this medium if they decide to contribute, and although it is a shame if some people are dissuaded from contributing because of the childish or aggressive atittudes of a few individuals that is very much their own problem. I agree it can be to the loss of others also if the people who leave (I doubt they do, they just 'lurk' instead) have things of value to contribute, but it's the nature of this medium, which is highly open to abuse. The internet is not a sandpit, it's pretty much a zoo. That's just how it is. Sometimes it's depressing, other times liberating, depending on your personal mood.
Your views are quite sensible and valid but on the whole are idealistic. Hoping that people will always behave nicely towards each other is ignoring basic human nature which has strong negative as well as positive traits, and as you say, how easy to misbehave online under anonimity.
To expect the forums to exist without 'zookeepers' both in the form of moderators and also individual users who are prepared to attempt to bring some order to the often childish attitudes here (yes, maybe by just saying 'chill' :D) is asking too much IMHO.
However I very much respect the sentiments of your post and the ideas contained in it, they are refreshing, and I apologise if I am too much of a realist! :)

allright, so let me shoot a rant here early in the morning.
so the tenant before me has a pending dewa bill. he is bastard number 1 for not paying it. landlord is bastard number 2 for not looking after this matter. and dewa is the biggest bastard of all for sending me the bill 1st of all late, second of all telling me if its not paid this and that is in a few days basically, they will cut MY water and electricity.
now when I told that idiot from the customer service to extend the number of days I have left to solve the problem of others and not staying in 40 degrees in the house, said he cannot do anything. he agrees, but he cannot do anything.
in 3 years here I should have known better.
bottom line if they do cut my w/e, god help that office where I show my face
raidah
oh oh wait, here is the best part. they collect the 1 k deposit for such situations, yet they still prefer to make life difficult for somebody who has no fault in this in the 1st place

well Raidah $hit happens, guess ur gonna have to go and fight it out. Ur Landlord should be made accountable. Do what you can, and hopefully the bastard number 2 ends up paying!

Just got this one this morning (not a Nigerian scam this time, a S.African one) :D :D
Mr. Solomon Abbas
# 24 Blairgorew Road Ranburg Johannesburg
South Africa.
Direct Line: +27 71 988 8728.
Dear Sir,
I am Mr. Solomon Abbas, the first son of late Sir. Jabu Abbas, who was the Chairman of the farmer’s co-operative Union in Zimbabwe. I found your contact details while I was conducting a private research in your country companies’ directory for a reliable and capable foreign partner who will assist my family and me to transfer the sum of US$28 Million (Twenty Eight Million United States Dollars) to any personal or company account for investment.
My father was among the farmer’s who were brutally murdered in cold blood by the President Robert Mugabe Zanu-PF party supporters during the land dispute that just happened in my country Zimbabwe. This money was mapped out by my late father for the development of a new farm in Namibia and also to buy some agricultural machine (Farming tractors) for a new farming season before his sudden death. As the first son of the family I am faced with the responsibility to manage my father’s estates.
After carefully consideration with my mother, we resolved to contact you for your most needed assistance. We duly apologize for infringing into your privacy as I make this proposal to you as a man of integrity and high esteem.
This fund is deposited in a secret Security vault of a private Equity Trust Company here in South Africa. I am prepared to split 30% for you provided that 70% will be intact at the end, for my family investment in your country, as I am planning to relocate with my family to your country at the end. Note that this business is 100% risk free as my mother has planned out all the necessary modality for a free and smooth transaction.
You can read this website for more details on these crises in my country Zimbabwe
While, I look forward to hear from you soon. Absolute confidentiality and secrecy remain important in this deal.
May God bless you and your good family?
With my best regards,
Mr. Solomon Abbas
For the Family.

Religion? I completely agree with you....

Religion itself cannot be damaging or helpful to human race in any way but our interpretation of it can. Without some surgery, Christianity would have had died years ago, because it doesn't go with modern western lifestyle. Wish other religions went under the same kind of treatment.

Ok. Now I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but it seems that DF has become an "English as a Second Language Forum". There are some posters know what they mean to say, but I have trouble decifering it. It would be nice to go back to the original forum which was for "Dubai English Speaking Community" and possibly a new section should be open for "English as a Second Language".
Then we have the philosphers, posting their words of wisdom. They really need to go the Philosphy and Religion Section and spare others the lessons in life that they want to share.

Guess it's up to the moderators to decide what they want? They do seem noticable more by their absence than anything else though....
I'm not sure that a standard English test should be required to post here though. By excluding people who speak English as a second language you dilute the experience. IMO anyway.
Is there a Philosophy Forum, I had no idea. Is it busy? I'll check it out. :D

Dilute the experience? Example: Sharp.
Speaking English as a second language is one thing, struggling to speak it is another. I know many people that English is a second language and they speak, read, write perfectly. It's those that know 30 words of English that I find frustrating.

Not a racist you boob. But it would help if people could compose a sentence that makes sense to those reading, rather than the one writing it.

The reason I said this is that the consumption of Alcohol is actually not totally illegal in Sharjah. For instance you can join the Sharjah Wanderers Rugby Club and providing you are a non-muslim you can legally consume Alcohol on the premises. You can also obtain a liquor permit in Sharjah, which will permit you to purchase Alcohol at one of the licensed liquor stores in Dubai A & E etc., and you can then transport it to your residence providing you have the receipt and have paid the Federal Liquor Tax of 30%.
Hopefully you can read the points given above.

Audition tomorrow. Funny in filmdom, I get pegged as Latina or white. I'm never picked for "Asian" roles (I know I should be punished for auditioning for a role that is not my racial background and to take roles from real Asians but it's called "acting." Anyway yeah I do audition for them because well I need money and parts but I'm told I don't look Asian). WTF is going on with real-life vs. cinema/TV?
Also got voice message to be a laugh track participant. Waiting by phone for Official confirmation. LOL ROFL. LMAO. I guess I'll be practicing my laughing to get into character.

Hey you young SOB, there's no need to fall in love with those young ladies, I guess you only have to pay them....where's the challenge in that....? :P
Hey I love a good challenge nothing like making a woman beg for it
(Well I ain't all that suave, but that's the endeavor :D)

You know the term SPG...Sarong party girl?
Maybe you should spend some time in the Far East, you would understand that there's a lot of good times to be had without negotiating terms... LOL
SPG eh? NICE! You know I've got a thing for them oriental women!:D
and
The only negotiating I've done with my women has been over time and place 8)
But to be honest should I be standing outside a brothel in Amsterdam I might enter simply out of curiosity. I'm sure there are experiences to be had!
And as far as I'm concerned life is all about the experience!
Now where's Robby he was supposed to mail me a leather kitty latex costume, complete with claws and a whip!

I saw a few but it happened 10 years ago. They were very amusing girls in many cases. I played with one of those chicks in beach volley on Sentosa Island. We were the best pair one day.
Sometimes some of them marry white guys. My university-mate was one of the victims.
Speedy, have you been to Singapore? Nice place.

I spent a little time there. It's a lovely place, very civilised, A litlle boring I imagine compared to HK (I am told this, because I never visited HK). I am one of those freaks that loves Durian fruit so I should be there right now :D
Yes the SPG's are funny all chasing the ang mohs (white men). I don't think I could live there because Sing gals are like crack cocaine to me, it would be too dangerous, alamak! Whether Chinese or Malay, they are great, sharp, funny. I do a lot of business with Singapore and know the people are generally quick and clever.
And of course the food is out of this world.
Were you there long?
WhiteJade
Looks like someone hasn't got out of the ugliness yet.
Speedhump
You wish the world was all daisies and pretty ponies.
WhiteJade
Better than being part of the ugliness.
Red Chief
I had been living there for a few months only. Then I left the city for Hong Kong.
By the way I had never seen any
TALL Chinese lady neither in Singapore nor in Hong Kong or Taipei. If you want them tall go to Beijing or another Northern City but they are as white as me there.

That's true. All are attractive though in their ways.
The only real beauty in the world is in raw nature, music, and women. You can keep the rest.

In this case Dubai is definitely not your cup of tea. Neither of these is available here in their full beauty and variety.
Why do you like this sandcastle? I thought that only here you feel yourself as a Great Brit? Isn’t it correct? (I don’t want to insult but understand only.)

That always has seemed to be your opinion of me which has always angered me as you know. I know my worth, wherever I am in the world. It's nothing to do with being validated by others, or how others see me. It may sound big-headed but you have to have your own respect. I hope you have the same. I am here because I like the heat VERY MUCH, and I am close to my customers whom I always had even when I was in the UK, and there's no tax, and it's safe for my daughter. There must a lot of other reasons that I can't be bothered to think of today. Oh, and I loved Dubai 10-12 years ago, it was strange and different to me. Now unfortunately it's getting much like any other major city of the world. But it must grow up I guess.
If I get treated better by shop staff or anywhere else for that matter because I am white, well you get exactly the same, don't make it about being British as you always seem to.
I would also ask what brings you here if you are not offended by the question?
Speedhump
I see your point, there seems at first not much on my list that fits the bill here. The local women can be heartbreakingly beautiful though, and Arabic music can be mind bending with its emotionally charged tonal scales, and the empty beauty of the desert is also something I can appreciate, when you stand in it and the silence presses on your ears like 30 feet underwater, and the sun on the sand in all directions making your senses reel. You can appreciate what has made the Arab a very uncompromising yet careful and ruminatory people, having to deal with such austerity as a part of live until only one recent generation.
WhiteJade
Pathetic.
Speedhump
:D
Speedhump
I guess I should be honoured that I am the only person you attack with your silly little one line barbs when I get angry on DF. But be careful, my patience is not endless dear. :P
WhiteJade
Dear yourself.
I know you can't live without attacking people.
Speedhump
What did you just say to me a minute or so ago in another thread about minding my own business?
Nobody is attacked that other people also have not also attacked for their childish, racist or otherwise objectionable posts. But you don't seem to worry about that. You are very blinkered!
Is it so hard to practise what you preach...dear?
Speedhump
(the dear is sarcastic, I'm sure you get it ;))

Where did she say that she likes doing it at home? It seems that she prefer to attract some crowd according to her activity on DF.

Hm yes, memories of seeing stage acts in Amsterdam spring to mind. But even they usually also involve some animal....

Some people always throw stones in your path. It depends on you what you make with them. Wall or Bridge? Remember you are the architect of your life.
Every problem has (n+1) solutions, where “n” is the number of solutions that you have tried and “1” is that you have not tried. That’s life.
Life is not about finding the right person, but creating the right relationship, it's not how we ‘care’ in the beginning, but how much we ‘care’ till ending.
