The logo of the campaign makes me want to run infront of a car and get hit right away
here is the article in gulf news :
kanelli
My slogan would be:
"Bad driving makes you an ass" And of course there would be a cartoon donkey.
scarlet

Kanelli you are very funny
^ian^
I have a great idea for road safety, it's called Prick Lotto.
Two SMS Numbers
77425 (Prick) - for bad drivers.
72468 - for good drivers
Each prick is a -, each of the other a +. 3 pricks and you're out, regardless of how many of the others you've got.
At the end of Ramadan each year, the person with the highest number of +'s gets 3 Million Dhs.
Meanwhile the biggest prick gets 1000 lashes, 3 years gaol, and then deported. Even if they're a local.
But not before sitting through a grief counselling session with victims of road accidents.
Chocoholic
It's a nice idea but sadly I don't think it will appeal to the people they're targeting. I mean getting a sticker for being a safe driver is pretty pants, the softly softly approach just won't work. They need to catch them, charge them and publicly humiliate them because that's the only thing some of these morons will understand.

It looks like the old 'Two fingered Anglo Saxon Salute'!
The slogan should read: 'Safe Driver? The fcuk off! You are in Dubai!'

Safety Campaing, simple:
Hire 50 Cops with patrol cars and radar detectors every 250 meters on SZR and a Tow Truck every 5 Kms.
50 Cops @ 200,000 dirhams per year = 10,000,000.00
50 Radar guns @3,000.00 dirhams = 150,000.00
10 Towtrucks @ 100,000.oo each = 1,000,000.00
Fines to be written: 1 every hour @ 200 dirhams = 5,000,000
Confiscated cars (hundreds) = 10,000,000.00 dirhams:
Surplus = 500,000 per year
Lives saved = Priceless.

Simple idea Concord - but just think of the additional back office paperwork involved in that - there is no way it would ever become a reality unfortunately!

Sure it would. Sentence each offending driver to "community service" (after confiscating their car) and they'll do the work.

The bit that made me laugh was that they are targetting "young"drivers aged 18 to 30...surely most 30 year olds are sensible drivers?? And great to be classed as young at 30 hehehehehe!
Cargirl
On a serious note though - if just a few people start to think before they drive it might help a LOT.
If anyone wants to sign up to the campain and pledge to be a safer driver - PM me
Guys seriously its baby steps but efforts have GOT to be made ... the UAE has the highest death rate per capita ... and its going up...
Per Capita statistics reveal the UAE has among the highest number of road fatalities in the world and it is increasing year by year. In 2004 the average of road deaths was an average of 17 per month, a total of 204 in the year.
In 2005 this figure reached 20 per month, and in the first five months of 2006 the figure had climbed to 26.4 a month. This could equal 317 people dead on Dubai’s roads this year if the trend is not reversed.
Imagine if these are the amount that are killed ... how many are hurt ...
Lets make a difference guys ...
