Natalie Wood head and shoulders over any other Caucasian actress. But when you go east it's a different story, she turns into a dog (for my money).
Single modern example, Fann Wong:

Envy silently, old hag.

I hate to admit it, but this is probably the most succinct and evil insult I've seen on DF. Bravo.
And Bora dear, you're one 'old hag' that I'd really let stir my cauldron, so no worries.....:D

You two should get a room in the Burj and work it out.... :D
I'm guessing it will end up with one of you dead and the other pregnant....but I'm not guessing which is which....
I'm just playing to the gallery; my rôle in the commedia...don't take me seriously.....:P

In your dreams vodka breath.
Old hags are what Russian women turn into overnight. Why, just look at your wife for the proof. As for the men, well you can attest to the fact that they are just born ugly.

Can you recognize the actress on the photo I posted? What do you think about her?
To be frank I rather like actresses with strong personality than Hollywood's dolls.

"Old hag" is a figment of his own imagination. Makes him feel better to think that. Probably helps him to sleep better at night. Way far from being the old hag he may think I am!
Let's get stirring hon.

It's Beatrice Dalle, probably more known for you as Betty Blue. She is stunning, enigmatic and dangerous at my point of view. :)

First let me just say: :pukeright: If that ever happened you would have to call it a miracle and me Mary Magdeline. The mental picture is awful! :help: :banghead:

Of course it is, one of your favourite films I remember. 37°2 Le Matin.
Love that craziness in a woman. I had plenty of happy trouble with girls like that in the past. :D
Red Chief
I had some weird experience a few years ago. One time I chose a girl in one bar only because she looked very unapproachable and stared at me very unfriendly although all other girls smiled.
The next day she told me that she had drunk to much a day before on her birthday party and in the bar had had a thick head. :)
Later I saw her in normal condition and it was very average girl. So a little personality and dissimilarity make very attractive even average woman.

It shows that personality brings people to life, and is the most important part.
The light is inside the lantern you see.

Must admit. I like the contrarian approach you explain here. Got the same issues
Misery Called Life
Don't forget Vivien Leigh. Delicate is the word for her.
RobbyG
MCL, have you been talking to Puppypoopz a bit too much perhaps? ;)
Classic Hollywood stars and such huh?
Misery Called Life
Good Taste and Beauty are both timeless....
I do enjoy a period film every now and then, and Leigh is simply amazing!

Ignore Robby...if it's in black and white he'll probably fall asleep...these Western kids today.... 8)
Here's my father's old favourite! I'll bet no-one will know her.....:D

OMG! The thread got active w/o my knowledge. I love Clara Bow!!! Not a beauty IMHO but on screen, just pure magic...I fell in love. Plus her name is on the photo. Owned!
I love silents. Speedhump likes Asians so here are two Asian beauties from classic Hollywood. I just saw Wong in Piccadilly. Charles Laughton has a small early role.
Wong is like the Marilyn Monroe of Asian classic stars and well I suppose Mori is like the Jayne Mansfield or Mamie Van Doren of Asian stars (speaking about popularity not talent)

Here's a video of my favorite Eurasian beauty (not talent just looks) from the 60s, Barbara Luna (Filipina-Italian-Hungarian-Spanish-Portuguese). I hope you'll like her Robby.

One more before I go. Dorothy Lamour in color. One of the few Hollywood women in the 30s and 40s to have very long unpermed hair.
Speedhump
Puppy, well done on Clara, you know your stuff for sure ;)
Charles Laughton was an astonishing personality on screen. But I don't think I've ever seen Piccadilly.
Thanks also for the Asian pointers. How do you get your old films, online purchase (or 'not purchase'...), or some club?
I'm wondering what sized part Maggie Cheung has in the new Tarantino....probably only small I guess. I can't wait to see it anyway, he always entertains me.
puppypup
I remember Maggie Cheung from Irma Vep. I like French films. France and the US used to be head-to-head in film industry popularity because both had the best film technology but France got too conservative. Germany had it's moment too. In simplistic terms, the US is like the Marilyn Monroe of the film industry. France the Jayne Mansfield. Germany was like Kim Novak. Kim Novak was more popular than Marilyn for a short time but in the long run, Marilyn was and is the leader of the 50s blondes w/Mansfield 2nd by default.
I've been watching so many films since I was 6. I'd watch on syndication, rent from Blockbusters, and borrow VHS from libraries. Now as an adult, I borrow DVDs from the library, subscribe to Netflix (online rental company) or watch on youtube. Youtube is cool but it deprives one of the theatre experience. Hulu is another site. On various sites, you can find a good number of public domain movies like Night of the Living Dead or The Last Man on Earth (w/Vincent Price. Omega Man and I am Legend are remakes). My obsession is so strong that I even watch at university audiovisual libraries or attend the student class screenings (outsiders are allowed to go). Student screenings are just that, not a class lecture.
Here is a link to my blog with a video clip from Piccadilly.
