bad morning?

Ok here goes.
All the websites / social sites require registering. Setting up account etc. I have like dozen of those email address and accounts. Most of them I hardly visit / use. I just received an email from someone I havent seen for ages and I have been told off from sending the invites regularly. This is from a site I hardly visit  How do you take yourself off from a particular site / account that you have registered. You know like Friendster, Face box etc.
Not a control freak but I do like to be organised. Urgh!

Most have a little iddy biddy thing at the bottom saying 'remove'
Of course they don't want to advertise the fact and lose subscriber numbers and slide down the popularity charts...

This is what I mean. Sometimes I don't even know how the site uploaded my address contact details. Now I "have" a Facebook account???

Check your computer for viruses, spyware, adware. Those things will do that stuff without you knowing. If you don't have a good firewall (the Windows XP one, and probably Vista, is not good enough), you're in trouble.

Receiving spam email doesn't mean anything. I get several hundred a day. I don't know enough about Facebook or Friendster to say any more. What firewall you use?

Actually, that may be nothing to do with you. Spammers use other people's email address as the "from" when sending mail so someone else gets all the bounced replies, and the blame for sending spam.
Very little you can do about it. Addresses are picked up from registration databases of dodgy sites, found from websites, or just made up.

Think of it like this. Taking your car for a service and locking the doors doesn't stop birds from crapping on it.

Good analogy I guess.

Well I rather not have that. The last time they took my laptop away they rebooted everything and I had to reset all my setting etc. And the problem wasnt solved. Guess what, second round. Dejavu. I had to reset all my settings - round two ... and there was round three too. I think I will just suffer in silence. Continue to receive spam mails. Viagra, manhood enhancement, bring it on
I am starting to think perhaps I stayed logged in on this forum too long. Can I be infected this way too ?
