Male Arab Greetings

asc_26 We have seen this all among arabs. Nose to nose greetings, cheek to cheek and sometimes they kiss/smack for slight seconds of each other's lips after saying salam alaikom. And they're repeating it so many times, twice or thrice at left cheek and same with the right cheek (im counting it though) so with the nose to nose greetings. Since i am not an arab i would like to be enlightened by their act of greetings. They said that "arab greetings" differ from the level of their relations to each other. If you're just a friend it is "cheek to cheek" and nose to nose for blood relations. I am not sure how true these things are and so i would like to know from forumers. If this has been tackled here before then i would love to see the link (though i did some search can't find any).
Bleakus its easy, local style is nose-to-nose other nationalities cheek to cheek asc_26 but i've seen egyptians doing nose to nose. and while doing those cheek to cheek or nose to nose, you're saying something to each. what are those words? and what about the smack on the lips? are those locals too? Bleakus i dont know about the smacking on the lips, sounds kinky but some of my dudes at work greet me with the nose thing and they are either egyptian or jordians. Its all good bushra21 5ashm! 8) liverpool4ever Anything can be said really while 'kissing' ( ), people usually mutter the usual: Keefak? How is work? Long time no see, bla bla bla I don't recall seeing any Jordanians or Palestinians doing the nose-to-nose thingie to be honest unless it was to a local/khaleeji friend liverpool4ever Also: The number of kisses and how many are on each cheek depends on the nationality I heard, don't know if it is true but for some they won't kiss more than 3 times, all on one cheeck or two on the right and one on the other or whatever... Never paid attention really bushra21 the whole kissing thing confuses me. cuz i do it the lebanese/pali way but here most dont do that so its kind of hard. grrrr i also sometimes feel like my head is going to fall off cuz sometimes they will just be so rough about it liverpool4ever
And what is the Lebanese/Pali way? ;) bushra21
if you dont know the answer to that by now hon, im afraid its too late for me to help.

Jamal aint never seen or heard bout the lips to lip thing .. but the iranian one is cheek to cheek .. 3 times . symmetric I am an Emarati local guy, but I'm not an Arab though. I come from Persian backgrounds, and I do the cheek to cheek way only, but sometimes I do the nose to nose to avoid any stupid comments from those who might attack me for not acting like an Arab, although I'm not one, but some would think I am because I am local. The fact is that there are two types of locals here, the ones who come from Arabian backgrounds, and the the ones who come from Persian backgrounds. Nowdays, the local Emaratis of Dubai (those of Persian backgrounds), they act 80% like the Arabian ones due to the very nationalistic Arabist atmosphere and to avoid any troubles. And I really dont like it, but what to do?! PS: In my very humble opinion and with all due respect to all cultures, but I really dont like the nose to nose greeting lol .. It sounds gay to me, but it shows manhood to some other people! lol My 2 cents! bushra21 so ur 3eemi... Bleakus i think your full of crap symmetric bushra21
hahaha, i wanted to say something like that but i thought id try and be nice first  bushra21 awww bleakus did you hear that... we arent emiraties...yalla ta3al, lets cry together over this... symmetric I couldn't care less what you think Bleakus, nor you Bushra. I know where I stand, and I'm sure both of you are not Emaratis, because your attitudes just sound more like some bunch of zalamat, and you know what I mean. symmetric
Yes I am, and proud to be a Bastaki Persian from the very core of Bur Dubai. Our old neighbourhood in Dubai is the oldest in Dubai and is now a museum for all people to visit.
So where you from? Are you some random zalama? Bleakus ^^great come back lol
Bleakus im acually russian, bushra didnt you know that lol MaaaD i have to step in .. whats wrong with being a zalama AAAAAAAAAAAA ?? dont let me come down to bur dubai and throw you in the creek then you can swim back to iran :P Bleakus haha good one MaaaD he is just another troll in the house ;) symmetric As a Khaliji, and like most Khalijis, we dislike zalamat people. After all (most of you zalamat) are bunch of traitors to your own "nations" at first, and then to people around you. Kuwait kicked out 400,000 zalamat at the end of the year 1991 after you idiots backed Saddam Hussein and stabbed the Kuwaitis in their backs although Kuwaities welcomed you with hospitality, but you were not worth being respected at all. No need for me to swim back to Persia, as a matter of fact, the reason why my anccesstors moved to Dubai is because the 2nd ruler of Dubai, the grand father of Sheikh Rashid asked the Bastaki Persian merchants to come to Dubai, and we were from the very first people to settle in Dubai directly after the Falasi family (al maktooms) who came from Abu Dhabi before us by 40 years only, and it was us who built Dubai, and named it so by the way. I am not a 1 generation, in fact I am a 6th generation, a history of 150 years in Dubai. Since you are some bunch of idiot zalamat who just got ur visas recently to make ur living here, you don't seem to know the proper history of this land or it's local society, so I really couldn't care less what you blabber. I am living a very wealthy life and a merchant already working in business, so you can bark all you want, I will only laugh at the stupid dogs like you lol. Good luck piglets 8) MaaaD symmetric you have used this thread to truly show what an idiot you are, so i dont need i need to say much. But i wanted to point out that being proud of your roots is one thing and insulting other people is another. I always see each person as an ambassador of his people, and you sure have a done a fine job in representing your people. good job buddy ! Bleakus whos 6th login is this? ^ian^ Didn't you Persians get your arse kicked by 300 Greeks? Not so tough. yujinn Wow.. it's only here that I learned about "zalamat", but I don't understand why should there be a need for locals to make such distinctions of themselves, and making being zalamat a bad thing. If I were ultra rich, would there be any other reason for me to be insecure with other peoples? most probably. Bleakus trust me, its people like him who give us a bad name yujinn ^ I trust you on that  and I'm sorry I didn't mean to generalize. :) Bleakus its alright bro ;) asc_26 It is entertaining to read boys fighting like cats. Meaooww.... symmetric All I hear is dogs barking .. I represent myself after all and not a whole nation. Thank God I am a respectfull person, I don't go on welcoming others by saying they are "full of crap" or try to insult them using racist terms, I start my convo with a nice attitude but I don't see a proper response, thus I just respond equally to others. Respect others the same way you expect them to respect you. I am an Eastern man, full of morals and respect. I don't need to use cheap slang language to express myself like others would do. I use a proper language when dealing with any person I meet. Welcoming all of you expatriates in my country with such great hospitality is fair enough and treating you all well is also fair enough, but to have you complainning a lot and bark day and night regarding some issues that you dont like in the Emirates is something immature from you to do, in other words you can go back to your countries and let's see how you will manage to get your daily loaf of bread, and you can also enjoy living there as locals of your own countries rather than living in a foregin country like the Emirates. If I noticed an unreasonable law in my country that sounds not fair to expatriates, I would not feel embaressed to point at it and condemn it. I'm not one-sided stubborn person. 300 greeks were smashed in few seconds by the Persian Empire great army, this is the historical fact that some Westerns didn't like to accept so they decided to make up such a stupid movie like 300 to please them selves lol. We couldn't care less of such ancient incident because the issue of stepping on some 300 greek "soldiers" by the Persian army is not worth discussing. There is a very well known saying in Persia that says "While the greeks in Athens walk barefoot, the dogs in Isfahan (a Persian city) walk on paved streets". This was the difference between Persians and Greeks. The 300 soldiers only had a noisey leader who kept on barking just like a dog saying "Sparta", I guess the Turks did smash the Greeks again very well after the Persians did. lol .. Good job to our Turkish neighbours 8) And by the way, you know nothing about history because you don't have any. And if you do have one, then again its you who chose to sell it for some dollars. Zalamat for instance are not even Arabs, they are Aramaic, Canaanites, and Pheonicians. I don't know why you people call yourselves Arabs when you're really not even related. Being an Arabophonic does not make you an Arab. Why do you sell your own identity to something else? Why do you keep on acting fake? Why do you act like traitors to your own history, nations and countries? Thats what I dislike in you ya zalamat people. And I see none of you is able to discuss the issue of 1991 in Kuwait, since you know its a big time obvious evidence on how cheap are your morals and life principles (in case you had any). Kuwait, Emirates, Bahrein, and Qatar, although all are different states today but we make up one society, we got our relatives and families scattered all around the Persian Gulf states, thus we care about each other, and that's why Im giving Kuwait as an example to express my thoughts towards zalamat, because an Emirati individual will only share the same opinion of a Kuwaiti individual regarding zalamat. You zalamat people betrayed Kuwaities in a very ugly way, so why shouldn't I dislike you for that? Didn't you people celebrated with happiness the tragedy that our Kuwaiti cousins lived under the horrible Iraqi invasion lead by Saddam? Yet even after that betrayal, the Kuwaiti government forgived you, but I still protest and say we should never forgive your sins towards us very easily and fast without a price. My 2 fils . . 8) I'm not discussing this issue again because it's not worth it at all. I know where I am standing, so now you can keep on barking till the end of life, or till your visa gets invalid lol .. 8) Bleakus ^^dude just shut up symmetric mn 3yooni  bushra21 wow...i hope i dont ever meet that guy...ahbal panaghoy on the contrary, i think it will be nice to meet him - - he sure has interesting stories. RobbyG I don't get why the expats are attacking this emirati. What did he do wrong? As far as I read this, I kinda like him before all the mud throwing started. Symmetric dude. I'm with ya...even 19 months in the future. You know what they say about history. Its all written ;) DubaiInformationSite lol - sounds like a classic world war in here. we support you bonbonboi
You are the man. bravooo Al-Ándalus symmetric i know the thread is too old but got to say something to this f؛cking iranian who says he's local and doesn't like the nose greeting . Don't be surprised guys this is typical from iranian , he's proud to be iranian just here in the web but in reality he's a loser trying to hide his shame for bieng iranian and so all of them do .. the most pothetic thing I have ever seen .. he doesn't represent the local ppl ,, locals are arabs only arabs this is why it's called United "Arab" Emirates .. and the word "zalamt " sam7oona ya 3arab hatha mn el 3ajam , they r ashamed of themselves this is why they r calling ppl names . dont be fooled guys with these iranians saying they represent local ppl
