London to Dubai

DJDave Hi guys. I've been perusing this place for a week or so since getting an interview for a job in the Media Centre in Dubai. I'm not going to ask about a "package" as I've seen the figures and I have decided that I wouldn't move over for less than 20k a month (UED). I reckon that will be enough for me to run my life as I would like. My question is for people moving from the UK or who have experience of the UK. What is the difference in overall standard of living in Dubai compared to London if you had exactly the same post-tax income? That won't be the case, I would have a fair amount more in Dubai but would be looking to save to help buy a house in the UK on my return a few years down the line. I'm 27 and a single man if this makes any difference. I haven't heard if I have a job or not, but there are lots of jobs in my field going in Dubai so I would probably be able to pursue it further if I make a decision that moving to the UAE is something I want to do. I may well not get the job I interviewed for as it was a sudden vacancy and I was probably sounding over-anxious about relocating during my interview. Thanks in advance for any responses
English Girlie Have you ever been to Dubai?? :P DJDave LOL, No. I know it's almost insane to consider moving to somewhere you haven't been but what can I say, I am borderline insane  samia74 hi, reference your post, my husband and i have just returned from a week in dubai. i loved it!! i'm actually seriously considering moving there as soon as i can find a job. my experience of dubai (and having spoken to his cousins who live there) is that it's a great place, the most noticeable difference is that there is an awful lot more time to socialise and relax. i'd certainly recommend a visit out there good luck DJDave Thanks for the reply. I am due to hear of my failure to get the job next week  but I think I will definitely aim to go out there later in the year and if I like it I will apply to other companies in the area. Thanks again. :) Sydneysider i'd never heard of dubai 6 mos ago and i have now been on the ground for 2 mos-- gotta grab life!
sage & onion At 27 and single you should give it a shot, Dubai is a great place to be.
