hi i'm a graduate of health and safety in construction that has just been offered a job in dubai, i'm quite nervious as i'll be heading over by myself and the country is a complete unknown to me, i've been checking up sites and and am finding it a bit overwhelming. i've been given the contract and it is split up like so
accommodation: DHS 4,000 per month
Water/electricity/etc: DHS 1,000 per month
Vechicle allowance: DHS 2,500 per month
and basic salary: DHS 5423 per month on top of all of that
does this seem reasonable as in i'm a guy so its not as if i'll be wanting the lap of luxuray but just wanna know if i''ll end up not being able to head out at the weekends etc. and would i be able to afford a car cause it seems very expensive on most websites
also is it though setting up like i said i'll be by myself so could do with tips and hints on everything!!!
Thanx

Hi Nodd,
Are you Irish by Birth?
How much experience have you had?
The Company you are joining is it International or Local?
Concord
Lots of helpful post in this forum (use search button, etc.)
In any event, here is what I think.
Car allowance = ok
Utility allowance = ok
Accomodation allownace = not good for your own flat in most instances but being that you are single and young (recently graduated) you should have no problem sharing with roomates, etc. You must look for a place to live YESTERDAY (other than driving it will be your biggest source of stress at least initially)
Salary = all relative in that department (what you need, experience, what you want - remember "can't always get what you want you get what you need").
Good luck

In addition,
Just go down to the next forum"accomodations" I just noted a post for a flat share in a new builinding for 1,500 dhs/months. (by dubailiwali or something). Worth a pm or call I imagine - beyond that it is like anything else.
