Saying goodbye to Dubai
Some poeple will avail their annual vacation and will not come back anymore, so how can these banks capture them?

Saying goodbye to Dubai: (read the website)

There’s no better way to say goodbye to the emirate than to sample all the best services it has to offer? How about champagne brunches and sundowners at the Burj Al Arab? No? Why not? Because you’ve been fired and your money’s frozen in an HSBC account and you can’t afford a shawarma, let alone a boozy brunch? That’s too bad.
Oh well, have a safe trip! Do come again!

How about that expAtation/deportation slogan...just pisses me off hahaha

Why on earth HSBC et all wouldn't let you pay off your debts with them using the funds in your account is beyond me. If you owe 50K and have 40K in the bank you still have to come up with the 50K?!?!
Are they mental? Assuming this is true of course.
Maybe keeping my cash in the mattress really is the safest option.

The unthinkable freezing policy by banks is so insanely retarded.
Glad I don't live on loans.

I agree with you GT, even if you have a healthy bank balance and you lose your job they will freeze it.

after the famous BCCI scam affected several residents of the UAE - many of whom lost their life savings - I never trust any of the banks here anyway. best option is to split the money with several banks or as Captain suggested - under the mattress.....

I must add - with the funny policies they keep on coming up with regularly here, I always expect them to freeze accounts for no reason anytime.

I don't think their is any danger of them freezing accounts for no reason.

Try getting hold of someone higher up the food chain in the Bank...
"I am sorry sir, he is not in his seat. He will call you back later."
Still waiting!

I actually meant freezing my account for no reason.
michaeldubai
one guy at our office last week got a notification from HSBC that his visa was expiring shortly and unless a copy of the renewed visa was sent to them - they would freeze his account.
