The war in Yemen doesn´t get much attention, probably because Muslims are killing Muslims. Tens of thousands refugees and a large amount of civilian casualties. Now Saudi seems to get more and more involved:

- The Saudi air force has attacked rebels in northern Yemen following Wednesday's killing of a Saudi security officer in a border area, reports have said.

Interesting that when Sunnis suppress Shia there seems to be US support for this - and little is heard from Washington about democracy in Shia majority areas of the region.
That the Saudis are jumping in to help the Yemeni government against Shia (and the 'Iran' card being played yet again) isn't surprising either.
That said, the Yemeni conflict does make it to the news when there are foreigners kidnapped.
Anyway - Iran are just the latest bad-guys, I'm sure things will change in a few years. The US trained and armed Al Qaeda etc - back when they were the good guys and fighting the Russians, and used to love the Iranians when the Shah was in power (and liked his father up until he didn't play ball any more - then they replaced him with his son) - so I guess it will just be a matter of time before there is another bad guy (my money is on China).. ;)

Too late. Seems like Muslims have already declared jihad against China before the US could.

But this shouldn't be a surprise. Muslims have already seen the Russians as the bad guys and Iran's influence in Iraq has made Iran a target on more than one occasion.

Well, the Chinese are responsible for spreading Islam to many parts of the Far East - notably the great Admiral Zing He - not surprising that amongst all the Muslims there today there will be some that will be singled out and selectively quoted by the Orientalist brigade.
;)
But hey - it is an interesting dynamic to watch the US reaction to Chinas treatment of its Muslim communities and see the media play down the 'Muslim' element when they are being persecuted, but highlighting it when 'jihad' is the story. Just see the varying treatments of uighurs in the press, for example.
Straying a bit off topic of the Saudis helping the Yemenis against Shia though.

- "Fighting has now spilled into Saudi Arabia, reportedly causing 240 villages to be evacuated and more than 50 schools to be closed, " Sigrid Kaag of UNICEF said in a statement this week. "The total number of people displaced by the conflict since 2004 has gone up to more than 175,000, from an estimated 150,000 only a few weeks ago."
More refugees, more towns bombed and now also large scale cross bording fighting...still nothing really to see, just move on...
