Kind of got an offer on the table but a few questions

brianand Hi All, I have seen similar posts but non specific. I have a potential offer on the table from a company in Dubai Its is as follows: 14,000 (includes Housing, transport and Special Allowances) Also monthly Bonuses of Avg 3000-4000, Private Medical, 1 mth relocation Allowance or shipping costs, and 4 weeks accom on arrival. Is this seriuosly enough for my wife and I to live on per month, ie with rent and bills, car etc etc....I currently earn just over 30K in the UK per year and as it would be tax free I estimate it would be similar take home as the UK, but is it all worth it for that pay? I have read on here that I should negotiate salary etc. I have over 8 years of Sales/Account Management experience and dont want to sell myself short. Any help, suggestions or decent job offers much appreciated :P
scarlet It's not enough. ask for 20K brianand Thank you Scarlet, I will certainly be driving a hard bargain. Is it a higher cost of living than London for example. I currently rent a 1 bed shoeboxfor £750/$1500 and thats out in Greater London! dbxsoul also that "monthly bonus" with an average value attached sounds a little suspect, ask them for specific measuables, when it will be paid to you, and it MUST be included in the legal contract. i agree with scarlet, to little, if you read through the forum you will see that amount barely covers decent housing - let alone transport/ vehicle and living expenes! getanapple 14,000 per month is enough to get yourself in trouble. Have a look in Gulf News classifieds for rents. Those are actual prices and you should pan to pay more than what you see in the paper. Figure a few months between deciding to move and making the jump, well in Dubai rents will go up in that time. Good housing in Dubai will set you back +70K per year for a shoebox in Barsha, thats 6,000 AED already plus %5 of the rent as a municipal fee included in the electric bill. Make sure in your deal that they provide housing allowance for the first year upfront so you don't need to shell out that kind of money when you first arrive. Need a car payment (5 years) and insurance from a lancer 800-900 or a fortuner for 1800-2000 or anything you can choose in between. Rest of your cost are similar to London. brianand
Thank you for your advice I will certainly be taking all of this into account including the advice from everybody else. I guess I need to be earning 25k plus a month to even consider it....
