Subject: Advice for Parents
Dear Parents
Some of you have shown concern about the level of police presence at churches close to the school and there have been a number of rumours. We have taken British Embassy advice and can tell you that the police presence is a precautionary one, only due to vague threats made against churches in general in the Gulf region. This stems from protests, which have been made about a new Catholic church planned in Doha . There has been no specified threat levelled in the UAE, but the authorities here have decided to raise their vigilance near churches as a routine security measure, particularly during the Easter period.
The Embassy advises, as is always the case, that you should periodically check the FCO Travel Advice website, which is regularly updated, be aware of where you are and take care when in large gatherings of people.
