living in the Meadows or Springs and working in Deira really stupid to do in terms of traffic? What is the average commute?

Well, there would be morning traffic, but the way home would be okay since all the traffic is coming the opposite direction towards Sharjah.

As kanelli said!!! Not all that bad as compared to living in Deira and coming to JEBEL ALI!!
The 2 places where you would spend some time would be
1. At the Greens Exit
2. Maybe while crossing the creek!!

Noni it's a half hour trip
When I first got here I Stayed in greens and worked in garhoud. Crossing the creek takes the longest but still not as bad as going in the opposite direction
