i'd be wary-- an ex-fbi agent has been reported missing after vacationing there-- theoretically in response to the kidnapping/arrests of iran operatives in iraq-- google it up!
with that said i'd love to go myself-- have heard it is beautiful!

Is it easy to travel to Iran on a US passport? Has anyone done it?
According to the US State Department website, it's allowed.
