Who : Couple of my friends
What : House sealed by Court Order
Where : Dubai
Context : They recently sihifted to an apartment shared by a family
and them. They've been paying the rent to the family guy, who
inturn used to pay to the contractual tenant of the apartment
who had not payed the rent amount to the real estate company
who owns the place for last 6 months attracting a court case
and immediate sealing of the place.
Issues : The authorities changed the lock and sealed the apartment
when my friends where at work, the family guy's wife was
present at the time of the incident and she was allowed to
take out the documents and some clothes. But my friends only
came to know about it when they came back from work that
they cant even take their passports and certificates from the
apartment coz it is sealed.
They had paid a months rent as advance and august month's
rent. No hopes of recovering that as there are no legal
agreement made between the owner and my friends.
Upon contacting the real estate company and explaining them
the issue, they say the keys are with court and they would be
allowed to take out their passports and documents in a weeks
time coz the court has to give the permission and key.
But they would have to leave everything else in the house
including their electronics equipments,jewelry et al.
Anyone heard of anything similar? Any advices, thoughts, useful suggestions are welcome.

There's nothing to do other than wait for the court decisions, and your friend has nothing to do with the case. This is a lesson for sublessee holding NO sublease agreement in writing.
