Hello Guys :)
I just wanted to know if it is possible to import an airgun from United States through the website (pyramydair) as they could ship to UAE...My only concern is the Dubai Customs :)
The Airgun is an 5.5 PCP Airforce Condor.
Thanks :D
jokey_wang
Hi
Airgun very difficult to export, but i don't know how to import.
i think you should ask forwarder.-.-
Scotsman
why would you want to import an airgun? what / where are you planning on using it?
Keep it in the US, where it belongs.
Speedhump
I'm thinking that Customs may take it away from you and give you a receipt, saying come back in a month's time to collect it. That's what they did with a high powered air pistol I arrived with a few years ago. Not sure what happens after that as I never bothered to go back to collect it.
You can buy quite decent airguns here, with all the accessories, scopes, etc. There's a large shop in Deira near to City Centre. The Arabs do love a gun....
Scotsman
mmm, seem to remember a story about some sickos shooting and killing two cats in Springs with an airgun. just curious as to what the intended purpose is.

Well, I think that's his business, but he could start by shooting all the bastard cats that sleep and urinate on the roof of my soft top car......
Scotsman
don't agree hump, if he's intending shooting pooch's & pusses, I might buy one too! Garage the car, I've a soft top too and never had a problem with any animal on top, you live on safari??
Speedhump
Mate, my car is under cover but it's an open garage. I bought a cover for the roof, the tomcats now spray all over that instead, which is not as bad as it was except that I have to handle it every day to put it on and off :(
Cats are wild animals that should not be classed as pets, nobody has any control over them, but their so called 'owners' say they love their little balls of fur.
Dogs are kept under control or should be. I read a couple of weeks ago that there is a even law being introduced to stop them being in public without being on a lead. Harsh, but when you see the way that locals can treat dogs that they 'find' you would not want your dog to go missing.

Fair point hump. I've had cats throughout my life till I moved here and while I love them, they are independent and I did get a bit fed up clearing up pooh from our garden in Scotty land, so goodness what the non cat owning neighbours thought! I got my lab here in Dubai and i do respect the laws and culture of locals and would never leave the dog pooh or allow my dog to run off leash and hound the locals. But I would do the same in my own country too. Responsibility is the key :D
Speedhump
Good man. I love labs, never had one though. My parents used to own a pet shop so I've been brought up an animal lover, but cats...
I guess it's only the anti-social side of them I've a problem with. Is it cruel to clip their claws and keep them indoors, walking them in a harness if you really feel you have to? I don't know, but seems the only answer to me!

Us Yanks have the same opinion to a degree. The difference is that we don't have a less than high opinion of ALL Brits. Just those who earned or deserve it.

Well they're not doing it outside of the US are they, because of course most Americans don't even hold a passport, have no idea what's going on in the rest of the world and are only interested in what's going on in their own back yard.

"Dick Cheney said he felt terrible about shooting a 78-year-old man, but on the bright side, it did give him a great idea about how to fix Social Security." --Bill Maher

Chocs, it's a volunteer army. No one is forced to join. It's by choice. There was a time they travelled because there was big wealth to be gained colonizing countries, but those days are gone. Or are they? If the UK is such a perfect world, then why do so many Brits leave?
As for troops getting hit by friendly fire, unfortunately the US is at the frontline, put there by an administration that was manipulated by one person, and I don't mean GWB as he was merely a puppet.
Please don't try to paint a rosy picture about the UK. It has its crime. You have police killing innocent people, you have your fair share of murders, shootings, muggings, etc. The UK has it's underbelly as does every other country. If it's so wonderful, then why are you in Dubai? I highly doubt is for the cultural experience.

Here's another little word - in English - that alot of Brits aren't familiar with - its - DENTIST.
And from my experience alot of Brits seem to be lost. I hear and have heard that so many of them ask people: "Do you know who I am?" Poor dears.
Question: how come when Brits go out with other people and after having eaten it appears that their arse swells up and they have trouble getting their wallet out of their pocket. How is that?
Another question: it also appears that when the check comes Brits discover that they have left their wallet in a desk drawer or in the car. Are they really that forgetful?

Shooting one another is the national passtime. How many of 'our' boys have been lost to friendly fire because your troops are pepped up and 'speed'? Prey on the poor with no future, train them up, shove a gun in their hands and throw them on the frontline - nice!
Hahahaha a 'volunteer' army! Yeah right, is that what they're telling you these days? Hmmm funny how most recruitment drives take place in places where there are no jobs, no prospects etc. LEaving zero choice but to sign up. Puuurlease - wake up!
Shows how little you know. It seems you don't understand the meaning of volunteer.
No it's just because they are a bunch or drunks :D
Wow, and here I was thinking that they were just darn cheap and living up to their reputation. And please note, that they were not all drunk. I think they just thought themselves as superior and important, whereas when back in the ol UK they revert back to who they actually are - a no one.

I had the opportunity to live there, and I was a little impressed by the way they drink. By 11:00PM they are so drunk that they end up mixing partners. Father-Daughter, Brother-Sister, Girlfriend-Best Friend......etc. They have one of the highest incest rate in the world. Truly amazing. Wonder what had become of the greal civilized country!!!!

Been on a bad date or two have we love, not quite understanding the meaning of 'going Dutch'? Hmmm must be where that's rubbed off on us.
It's okay, you'll always be the little retarded cousin that everyone's embarrassed by.
So if you know it, fix them! Bad date or two - no hon. Just been repulsed by a few nasty mouths in general conversation. I admit I was rude, because I couldn't stop staring and wondering why? But that didn't last long because my gag reflex would kick in and I would have to look away.
Dutch date. Sorry hon, never had to dip into my pocket on a date. But, then again, they were American. But I do understand "Dutch date" means splitting the bill, but you people take it a step further and itemize the bill (I had this and I had that, and I didn't drink wine, blah, blah, blah), but it seems that a few of your fellow country men think it means "screw the other person for the bill."
Please dig a little deeper if you want to take a jab at me. That was really really weak. You must be low on fuel today.

Well there is a lot of vacancy to be found in your own, and the improvement certainly wouldn't hurt. Oh, I forgot, they probably wouldn't be able to find someone to pay for it. Would rather stay ugly.

Wow you guys are actually arguing.
Gotta agree with Chocoholic on one count, the US military is fielding one of the most heavily medicated fighting forces in the history of war. That means US troops aren't just fighting enemies - they're often fighting their prescriptions too.
US troops have been deemed a liability at times.
There have been proven incidents where adverse drug effects have endangered lives of the marine, his troops, and the lives of civilians unfortunate enough to cross his path.
Everyone is within a rifle distance of risk!
In deploying an all volunteer army to fight two ongoing wars the Pentagon has increasingly relied on prescription drugs to keep it's troops on the front lines.
The US army mental health survey states that 12 % of soldiers in Iraq and 15% in Afghanistan are on prescription drugs for antidepressants, anti anxiety medications and sleeping pills.
In other words 1000's of American troops fighting with the latest in sophisticated weaponry, are taking prescriptions drugs that the Federal Aviation Authority considers too dangerous for commercial pilots!

MCL every single man and woman, regardless of their country, returns home with the scars of war.
If troops were being medicated they would be removed from "active" duty and confined to lighter duty. No way would they be put on the front line and be allowed the use of a weapon. As for the US military being on the front line, well GWB at the urging of Dick Cheney put us there. The other countries that joined the US as a show of "support" are being shielded by the American Army, which the US administration probably agreed to, just so that other countries would appear to be part of the effort. I mean, you had some countries that sent what, 50 or 100 troops that were so far away from seeing any action that they were probably on a holiday.
I certainly don't defend what the US did to encourage people to join the military, but there must have been enough who wanted to otherwise they would have brought the draft back.

The US is hard pressed for troops. I doubt they have the luxury of deploying 15% of their army to light duty.
Anywaz I remember reading an article where this heavily medicated marine driving an LAV fell asleep on the wheel because of medications. Luckily his comrade behind him managed to avert anything untoward happening.

The US military spoon fed their crap to civilians to get them to join. The goverment spoon fed the American people lies to justify it's actions.
And yes, they can put 15% on light duty. Bases have to be run and other facilities have to be manned that are non-combatant. And those military men who are medicated, no secret that drugs exist and are obtainable. But to confine it to one group is unreal. Unfortunately they are probably used to remove the daily nightmares that they have to live with and living with the lies that their own government told them.

This thread has turned to garbage I see, with litttle Putin crying babyishly again about the Empire that Russia never had, after kissing and making up with Bora (temporary alliance I can assure you). He has an insane fixation with it all.
Seems that nobody here is talking about any facts except MCL, Bora you better spit up some statistics or references to counter him or give up, he's talking sense. Friendly fire is one of the big problems of fighting alongside yanks, I can imagine that meds may well have something to do with it! Do you need me to find and put up some references, if so then I will?
What's with the teeth comments? So childish, no-one mentioned the vast overweight and sweating 'nation of the supersized' called USA or the drunken uneducated and corrupt masses of Russia. Are we really about namecalling?
Bora, taking stuff you read in the papers and say you have seen it all is very poor, I do not believe for one second you have seen countless British saying 'do you know who I am'. I've been here for five years and I'm lucky enough to go to the best places, and I never actually heard it once, except in jest and certainly not to anyone's face. But boy do I read the apocryphal stories....

SH, go to Chocs. statement which started the whole thing. Funny you failed to mention her part in this, seeing as how she started it. Racist I am not, but when someone blatantly states their opinion on Americans - using a paintbrush to cover all Americans, I will go back, which is no different than you standing up for Brits when sparring with RC. And I may remind you of you comment to Rudeboy in another thread making reference to something "disgusting", in retaliation to his comments about Brits.
SH, if you are going to point fingers, please use all the fingers on your hand. You have always been fair so I'm surprised at you being selective with your omission.
And I did not say "countless" British. I have heard "Do you know who I am" stated by several people, from different nationalities. You know as well as I do that there are people here who think they are way more important than they really are. For some reason way too many people develop this inflated self-important ego about themselves.
And I don't see where I said anything about taking "from the papers" or saying "I have seen it all".
I won't go into the military reference,
brought into it by Chocs , but I will state, that Iraq should have never happened, but the US did not go into it alone and they may be the only military group to suffer so greatly from depression and needed to be medicated, but being on the front line is no picnic. I think any country that were put in the position of being on the front line would also suffer emotionally. I wasn't debating what MCL said, nor disregarding it. Yes, friendly fire cannot be denied.
And may I point out that the British were guilty of friendly fire. Maybe not to the same degree, but it does happen.
And thank you for pointing out:

Soooo...about airguns, you know, the ORIGINAL topic? Some people like to own airguns for shooting practice. I've got a closet full of airsoft guns and i'll take them up on the roof of the villa and shoot at a few paper targets. Some people like to spank the monkey after work, I like to unwind and shoot at cr^p.
Of course I share Bora Bora's "predicament" of being American, but I got the hell out of the country when i was 18 and spent 4 years working as a contractor in Afghanistan. Try being shot at, wounded, and not being able to fire back because your own company hires ex-convicts from europe and eastern europe so they won't allow anyone to carry.
Who the hell cares if someone wants to carry a gun or not, and who is anyone to judge if someone else is mentally stable enough to own one?

I can have a gun in my country. If you don't like it then don't go there but don't waste your time telling me how much better you are because you can't have a gun. Get over it and open the London papers to read about knife crime instead.
My 2 cents...

Name calling? Stupid? Well done, that will show those "Stupid Yanks"

As if you are above name calling. Give me a break Chocs.
And from us Americans to you, this is what we think of you and your opinion: :thebirdman:
Edited to add: and I think there are several non-Americans who share our sentiments.

I think a bazooka would be more appropriate for Chocs. Something big and heavy, like her.
Chocoholic
Big and heavy? Nah Sniper is more my style, you'd never see me coming!

I would stop short of the finger, but I do not want to be associated with her views.

Your addition was not really necessary. Even without all those people I cannot see Chock’s face and so sadness on it as a reply on your gesture behind a forest of 300 000 000 fingers of American people. You evidently overdid.
I guess even one your beautiful finger would be enough for full destruction.

Well I actually find it amusing that some people can't take a bit of gentle ribbing. Especially in light of the fact that I do have a load of American mates and many of them actually think the same way about many of their fellow country men.
Half my family is American! I used to actively shoot in competitions and join Marines and Army personnel on training before active duty deployment, so have a pretty good knowledge of alot of weaponry, the different types and their uses. Therefore my comments and opinions are based on personal experience and an active knowledge gained over many years.
So I'm still sticking to it!
Speedhump
It didn't really sound like gentle ribbing and I'm not a Yank. Were you fully brunched maybe?

Gentle ribbing? Are you backtracking Chocs? "Low opinion of Americans" is hardly gentle ribbing. You were voicing your opinion.
And I guess you see youself as a full fledge colonel with all the knowledge of military weapons. "Trained with the Marines and Army personnel before active duty deployment" - do you know how stupid you sound? If one were to believe that you lived the many lives you claimed, and had the experiences you have claimed to have, and possess all the knowledge you have gathered, you would be in the Book of Guiness.
Your life must be very empty and shallow for you to sit around and come up with these stories portraying yourself as the all-knowing-wise-one. I guess you need to get your thrills and excitement some how.

Here's one for you :thebirdman: . I don't want you to feel left out.
Now let's see just how powerful my finger is. (Poof - you're gone!!)
By the way RC, they caught you on film at a Sharjah beach. Seems you were having a bit of trouble putting your pants on.

Maybe I'll give in and join you and pop a cap in your ass!

Hey, RC, maybe you should practice Russian Yoga and relax a bit. You seem to be getting a bit tense.

Hey what’s wrong with Speedos? Only drawback is it that it takes a fit man to look good in one! 8) All ye women who agree with me say Ay!
I got bad memories associated with Speedos though. Was about 13 then, went to the beach. The waters were quite rough, and we were just bout holding on. Suddenly to my horror I realize that my Bloody Speedos had fallen off and I was in the buff. And to make matters worse the beach was crowded and none of the guys I knew were nearby. Worst moment of my life!
Thankfully a full Monty was averted, managed to get ma bros attention and he got me a towel. But the rogue blackmailed me to it. He got a pic of me in nothing but a beach bucket. Really Embarrassing and outrageously funny at the same time!

That's funny :D
But I actually don't know many females that like guys in speedos either. Maybe you need to start a poll before you go buy your next pair... :P
