Congratulations,
Would you kindly let us know the route you take to and from work, school, and the mall so we may stay away from those roads (at least for the next six months until you are really comfortable - which should coincide with the rest of us being comfortable driving on the same roads).
Enjoy. Remember that the beep on the speedometer is just a beep.

It's easy to get thru if you know how to:
1)park on the pavements
2)taking up 2 car parks when you park
3)Park in the middle of the road blocking all trafiic
4)jump into lines and not to use the indicators
5)change lanes on a solid line instead of dotted lines
6)drive on the shadow lines
These are all the basics, if you know how to drive a car like this, then you are passed!!

LOL Feipo,
i wouldnt say its difficult but then theres a bit of luck factor involved i would say. If the cop whos testing you is in a good mood and is willing to let go off minor mistake if any, one can get thru in first attempt. I have seen people who have tried for 5 times and still trying :).
cheers,
Jerry

i heard if u take driving lessons in the Emirates .. u will pass the test right away
Jeevan
- Corcovado wrote:

Nope Corcovado,
My cousin took it from emirates and he flunked two times before he could clear. me i took private and cleared in second attempt. The difference in recognised and private is that
1 recognised charge u 50 aed per lesson against 35 for private.
2. once your driving lessons timings are set u cannot change them with recognised, private institutes do that.
3. The standard of teaching is better at recognised institutes.
4. If you fail your test through a authorised center u automatically get the next date after 7 days as against 20-25 days in case of private.
I guess if one knows how to drive then the entire process with lessons shud cost around 1500-2000 aed(thats if u have to take lessons). With certain nationalities and countries u have to show your driving license and get a local one made in 10 mins like GAB and concord said.:)
Cheers,
Jerry

You omitted
7) Use warning/hazard lights at every available opportunity.
8. Slam on the brakes at every speed camera.
9) Honk your horn like a maniac when the light turns green.
10) Do u-turns at 2km/hour or like you are going to a funeral.
11) NEVER stop at a pedestrian crossing (made that mistake ONCE- talk about mental the guy in the car behind really let loose with road rage)
12) Drive like you are the only person on the road, with no consideration for others.
