Answer: Reverse Engineering
The guy didnt have any fancy moves....he just was smart enough to write spoofed email claining to be a client or host provider and fooling people into answering his questions.....in other words.....he was good at faking his identity and getting access to things he was supposed to have access to.
So heres the plan....we have linux server online...Target X.
And this is what we know.
-server secure: has passwords for everything and no holes.
-Vurnabilities in the operating system? Yeah...only coders are intot hat stuff....so unless ur like a programming freak! writing scripts and bots....it aint an easy job.
So this is what i want from you.... I want a few GOOD EXAMPLES of emails that are faked which are used for sending to clients in order to lets say reveal their login passwords. Some of my examples....
-
you send a spoofed email to the user asking him to logon to a website (which u made that looks like the web hostings website...and is programmed to log his username and password when he types it.)
This is a very nice once....usually fools most people...you can send them like a request saying theyre account is going to expire and they need to logon and re-activate bla bla bla and so on...and they click on the site....and if your smart enough you can register for a domain name that is similar to the original web hosting companies name...
I can do that...but i dont know how to write a script that would record user name and password when typed.
go ahead and write down a few more other techniques.....some good ones....even if theyre classical ones...i would enjoy reading them.

Wrong again, you mean Social Engineering and not Reverse Engineering those are two completely different things.

There is no such thing. The fact that is uses passwords is a hole byitself.

Wrong yet again, there are already coded exploits that are all over the internet and kids use them all the time to hack into machines.

The last thing i am gonna do is help an idiot like you. You better research your shit more and start being more informed. When i start feeling you know what you are talking about i might help you with some awesome phishing techniques that not even the best firewalls can stop.

now this is a really old classie used to trap people for getting their Hotmail passwords.
You spoof/dumify the web host page / hotmail page.
The place where you have to put your log in/pw details , you simply put HTML Post scripts or Use a php sendmail function or a javascript to post the info to your email or upload as a text file.
This must send you the actual item of what the user must have entered.
But why do you want to know this ??
