Hi all. I just joined today. I'm moving to Dubai on the 31st, only 9 days away now. I have been living in Thailand for one month short of four years, the first three in Bangkok and the last one in Phuket.
I'm really looking forward to being in Dubai and to meeting some expats over there. I'm happy to give you folks any info on travelling to Thailand, especially Bangkok and Phuket.
:D

I just saw now that you have a New Members section. I looked for it but I didn't see it. Could a mod move this over there please?
As for bars, sorry, I can't help you. I'm not a bar person.

Yes, local. Its ont he left side when you turn into Soi 1. I am sure its Soi 1 but I could be wrong. Its popular and posh in a local way.
Please recommend more popular local restuarants. Must be clean. Must speak Englsih. Thanks.

Those are pretty huge questions. It depends on alot of different things, such as location, for one. Places like Phuket and Koh Samui are overpriced, even by western standards.
You can get a good range in Bangkok, depending if you live in a "local" or touristy area. Chiang Mai and the north are pretty cheap and pleasant.
