Hello to all of you,
I am new in the forum. I am Austrian but living in the US and will move to Dubai because of my husbands job in September. I am very exited but also a bit worried of the driving situation there. I do have an Austria drivers license, which entitles me to a Dubai DL right away according to my knowledge. However, I have always lived in big cities and am therefore not an experienced driver. I would like to get a GPS once I am there so I can watch the road carefully when driving and not additionally have to worry too much about directions and street names. Do you know if a reliable GPS in Dubai is available?
Thank you.

just head to the nearest electronic store like Plug Ins or Sharaf DG and pick up a Garmin GPS unit. Most of them cost with build in Dubai maps.
alternately you could try out some of the offers with the Nokia phones. The maps are not as detailed but the navigation works fine.

Street names? street names????
Ha-ha-ha....
It's fairly simple to find your way around though a semi-decent, up-to-date (if such a thing exists) map will get you around.

Thanks a lot. How much is a navigation system over there and how good is the quality? is it in english?
