Hello from Costa Rica, a tiny country from the other side of the world.
I am seriously considering hosting a Live Chat, East Meets West. I would like to host several live chats one on the Palestinian/Israeli Conflict, another on Iraq, and for those of us who are particularly interested in cultural affairs the advantages and disadvantages of Shariya (given some of the interpretations) as compared to the West.
What do you think, would you be interested, do you think you could come up with some conservtives and some liberals from other areas of the Arab World who would be willing to participate for the sake of understanding.
Personally though from a different religion, I come from a very conservative part of the world, a traditional world, where we are expected to wear the meaning of the burka over our hearts though otherwise we seem quite occidental. On the other hand though we do not recognize ourselves as tribal, our families and extended families are expected to share in the decisions of family and to protect those members who cannot protect themselves. Is this not also the meaning of a tribe, perhaps we have more in common than you would originally think...Please leave a post for me at / my handle is CSH, thankyou for reading this note and my gratitude for your considering the idea.
