Howdy,
Well new to this forum like you guys and trying to get a feel of this board to see how is everyone.
I will be looking for job in Dubai, any tips? I am from USA and a citizen of USA with almost 18 years in Law Enforcement....
I would appreciate all tips, clues, help and every thing else.

There are lots of info in the "Dubai Expat Help" regarding housing, cost of living, jobs, etc. You may also want to look at for classifieds/appointements.

Thanks for your reply and the welcome. I tell ya, I have not decided that part yet, mean the job part. I would love to stay in my own field but how?? Can not speak Arabic, so i guess that shoots that idea. I am fully trained in the operations of X-ray machines and Walk thru metal detectors and other security procedures similar to the airports so plus other training. This is what I did for the last 18 years. So, I am quite confused where to start. Any ideas….???? …… :? …I will indeed look at the links and start the search.

Thank you all for the welcome. You know some, you guys seem like a good bunch. I have not read a lot through the forum but some very interesting topics there and not to mention some replies......LOL: D :lol:
Ok, I am originally from Pakistan. Gillani family is very well known and respected family in Pakistan for their role in religion and politics for many years.
Been in USA ever since my teen years and I am ready to get out of there. Why? Well several reasons and one being that I want change and warm climate..... 8)
Security companies are fine but I held a job at a much higher level (senior manager)so, i am not so sure if the pay would be good or not. I am gona keep looking and insha Allah will find some thing.
Question.......why is the rent so high here?????..Is Sharjah any cheaper????
Also any one in this group for Fishing and Hunting????? :)

Yeah rents are high but you dont need to go to sharjah to find a place. There are lots of reasonable places to live in Dubai.
First figure out where you want to work then take care of the rent.

So you know, there is a post somewhere else here wherein a recent survey has placed Dubai as the 25th most expensive city in the world. More expensive than San Fransisco, Chicago, Miami, Toronto!
On another note and without knowing the facts I would suspect that security jobs would pay less here than the USA. Lots of available labor and I imagine the training, and hence the salary won't be higher.
Sharjah is cheaper than Dubai but I supppose Iowa is cheaper than chicago (not a fairm comparison but check the forum for a previous comparison - use the search button at the top right).
