Very very insightful. A friend of mine just lost all her jewelry from her house in sharjah. She and her family had just been out of UAE for a day and they returned back to see that nothing is damaged, the doorlock is not broken.. but all her jewelry (from her childhood days trough the marriage and 4 years in UAE..that amounted to a massive amount) is cleaned up. Apparently only their maid knew that they were out of town and where the jewlry is kept n abt the keys of closet.
^ian^
And people say all the time "Ian... why don't you get a maid?" "Ian... why don't you get a maid?"
And you wonder why?
It takes me 1 to 1.5 hours a week to keep my apartment clean... yes I could get a maid for a few hours a week but then I would sacrifice my privacy and security.

Is there a necessity for a maid ..thats the real question?
If there is, then its a matter of trust and respect on both sides. Its for both side responsilbity to work it, though one can not erase the issue of theft on the hand and maltreatment on the other. One needs to have that so called intuition to know one can be trusted.

But in my friend's case... the maid has been with them for almost 9 months.. and they obviously had no clue as this would happen. Having said that.. its still not proven that she's taken it. .and the worst part..they'll have to pay a fine for keeping a maid before they can lodge a police complaint..
