Guide to renting -- dos and don'ts??

Rach182 Hi there, I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to help me out please? I'm moving to Dubai over the next couple of weeks, and whilst I will be given accomodation for the first couple of weeks, I still need to find a place of my own. Could anyone tell me about the rules of renting flats over there? IE: what deposit do I pay (is it one month's rent), how is rent paid every month, what happens with additional things like water & electricity? Anything I should avoid or look out for?? Also, I noticed that a lot of listings in the Gulf News classifieds quotes rental rates per year -- does that mean I have to pay it all at once or can I pay monthly? Cheers guys.
fayz Good luck in your search, deposits can be 5-10% of rent, realtor fees if applicable are 5% and rent is usually payable in advance and by year. There is a lot of information on here with more specifics; you just need to use the search function. Wafaey I found this helpful link i think it would give you an idea about rent price and utilities. &category_id=010702 I hope it is useful :D kanelli Rach182, don't be afraid to ask your company to arrange for someone to give you an orientation to Dubai and help you find a place. There are companies here that do that, for example The Specialists /
