Hi guys , we are planning to open up a new section which will be only accessible by the regulars.... where we can post info accessible to only reguars and 'core' members of the forum. members can gain access only via invites i.e if u would like to have access to thsi section get suppor tform one of the core members and we mods will decide on it.If u like the idea vote for and let us know of the name of this special section.

Sniper - I was so tempted to vote for the third option!!
All - lets have some ideas for names of the forums....
fayz
How about calling it The Klik or DFM Klik, as that is what we're effectively doing,
Concord
Absolutely Not.

Are you saying no to the "forum", or no to the suggestion of a name for it??
^ian^
The Inner Circle.
But really, I think its a crap idea. Just too elitist for my liking.
MaaaD
can we also have an intiation process that includes hazing and branding of members ?
Bleakus
Like what MaaaD

Snipes and Moi have been discussing this in our "secret VIP forum". I have to agree with Sniper on this concept.
We have been throwing an idea about for regular members with say min 500 posts to be invited into a sort of VIP section. Although on this issue Smartd disagree's with us.
It may be seen as a sort of eliteist place for the "core" of regulars but on the other hand it will be a place where we can post without crap and interference from newbies and the idiots/trolls.
I think Fayz's suggestion is good apart from he spelt "clic" with a K.
also wot about the DFM'ers?
dubaix
i think it will be very good
St.Lucifer
I would say Illuminati or Lodge as in Freemasons' masonic lodge. what say. but seems like i'll have to wait for a long time... to get access to this one :(
arniegang

As I understand it, that part of the idea has been scraped, or at least modified in such a way to include more people and not just encompass people who just post rubbish.
The intention is to get the DF's core users to be members - those who, without them, this forum would come to a halt. And some of those I'm thinking of haven't got 500 posts either!
St.Lucifer
wow thats a good post there Thanks Zooter . i mean for the clarification. :)
^ian^
I hope you guys enjoy your little club, but I will not be a part of it.
arniegang
no one said it was compulsary Ian
Concord
I think you guys are getting a bit carried away. Reminds me of fifth grade
What will happen is that it will exclude too many people who might otherwise have something to contribute. Franky number of posts do not necessarly mean much [I could by morning have 6,000 posts - it would be a stunt but I could do it easily]. At the moment everyone over 500 post will likely be "invited" but who decides?
I think its not a good Idea and I am with Ian on this one. Those who want to discuss things outside the "regular forum" can do it in person or by MSN (whatever that is! ).
People will be discouraged that they are on the "outside" and move on. Thus a forum made up of many people will just be an "exclusive club" as most of the "core" people will gravitate to the "new forum" and dismissing posts by an "unknown" who is at the beginning of the cycle and who might turn out to be a great contributor eventually. But anyone who could become a real contributor will certainly be turned off by the "elitist" club.
I believe it should be left as is and let it take its course. Perhaps the forum is going thru a period of "boredom" with loads of sophomoric posts by those bored. Let them go back to the fith grade (school just started) but I don't think DF should go to fifth graders ('clics' and the like). Just my 2 fils
P.S. X I will vote

Well as my post from yesterday is lost I reiterate, a special club for special members in which a few people have the right to vote in who they like and dislike takes away from the essence of DF. DF's charm lies in the fact that it welcomes everyone, take that away and you alienate many people. Its a very elitest concept and I don't support it.

I continuously kept saying no some topics based on romance, tech etc wont be posted in this forum. Only some posts like get together for ppl who know each other, proxy lists etc will b posted here which we cant post else where. No it wont alienate ppl. Since the selection of members is based on honor system and n.o of posts like 150 we, the mods will see how the members are positively contributing to the forum then include em to the club which will motivate ppl to contribute and help new members with question and DISCOURAGE trolling.

you have raised a very interesting point Banana
I myself have had to think about names (real or user) when i post a reply to someone i know.

Why don't you have a forum for those who turn up to meets? Invites can happen as normal to include evryone but if you want to discuss post meet, you can do it in this new forum. So hopefully newbies won't feel left out when everyone is talking about 'that night out' and trolls & time wasters can't access...
For example, I don't have many posts but I do know several of the DF members well and have met a fair few now but there are some nutters with more posts than I have who I have never seen at a get together. Also, it will be more peronal, no need to edit out names and venues as if you have been to a couple of meets, most people will know you're safe.
Those in the UK who are cool, such as ajb and Zoots etc who don't often get to come to the meets can all have access too as people kjnow they're cool.
Or something along those lines!! I dunno, just a suggestion! :D

I see where you're coming from PP, but if people want to post personal things amongst friends without giving private info away to go knows who, this would be the forum. For most topics, I'm sure it'd be in one of the other forums and people can carry on as normal... it'd just be like msn but on a board... I don't think it's elitest, just slightly more private.

I think people are over thinking the issue here. We are not going to create a new concurrent set of forums designed for "elitest" to seperate us from the main forum discussions - like what flavour tea we like.
When ever we have held a meet how many of you would have liked to have seen the pics collated at one secure source?
As the forum evolves we are simply adding another single forum aimed at weeding out the lurkers and undesirables. As Arnie has already mentioned, it is not compulsary. No one has to be part of it. If you believe you are better off for taking the high road in rejecting/objecting then who is the elitest amongst this?
arniegang
excellent summary X

so smartd open the new section
Dubai Knight
Just found this thread and thought it needs a little contribution:
If you have an exclusive area for the regulars (I do include myself in that category!) then the propensity will be for us to post in there, rather than in the main body of the Forums.
That will deprive the newbies and other potentially good participants of our collective wisdom, wit and vim...
Sorry, think its a bad idea and I like to be able to see everything and contribute where I see fit. All those I want to talk to outside the Forum I can do so via chat programmes or good old fashioned email.
Keep it as it is, lets just try and govern the trolls, morons and undesirables more strictly. Thats what we have Mods for.
3 whole Fils worth!

Correct, since we never had it in the first place.
Some say we should have never come down from the trees, perhaps they were right. Now we all have digital watches and fuss over bits of paper.
