gtmash Seriously, I read somewhere that there isn't even such a thing as a 7-star rating. It's just something that marketers made up for the Burj. Tomorrow, I'll open my own self-declared 11-star hotel. English Girlie Great but I have some requests! You are allowed these in an 11* hotel! Ronaldo - naked hoovering in my suite. Ralph Fiennes - reading bedtime story. Callum Best - running my bubble bath. ohhh my mind is wondering into heaven! Galactico
What a mind
 English Girlie
Okay for you:
Katie Price/Jordon - fluffing pillows
Jessica Alaba - applying suncream
 Galactico
8) Galactico [quote="English Girlie"][quote="Galactico"]
Replace Ronaldo with LG
Ralph Fiennes with Mac
Callum Best with HP
I wonder where your mind would be then   gtmash
where? English Girlie [quote="Galactico"][quote="English Girlie"]
Checking out..... and into another hotel! English Girlie
Wherever you want it ..... sir! :D

Haha sage & onion
Just a piece of nonsense  g00se Gtmash -
Totally agree with you. The whole point of marketting guys is to sell you stuff that you don't necessarily need. From what I have experienced of hotels around the world [and esp in DB] five star is understood by most. Anything above is really just icing on the cake [and an excuse to charge you suckers squillions more !!! ]
Actually, here's a question; who decides on the Star Rating ?
Is there an international roving body of men & women, who are dedicted to sampling that freshly-ground coffee bean, measuring the exact angle of the turned-down bed cover, timing the speed of the left luggage from door to room, poking the reception flowers for freshness and comparing the facial crease in smiling staff ?
Hmmmmm. Maybe I need a career change............? westside thts juz dumb to say tht there can be a 10 * hotel English Girlie
Guys have you read the link??
It was just a piece of fun.... fantasy land stuff! :D agentx Nice fun but creative joke... Galactico
Your always in that   g00se Still no-one's answered my question tho............ English Girlie
gOOse
I don't know the technical answer to your question, but I do know one thing..... there is a five star hotel in my city in the UK that is really pretty standard.
I questioned the manager once who I happened to be talking to how the group managed to get a five star rating for such a medioca hotel and he said that the stars are based on facilites.....
Number of rooms
Swimming pool size
Disabled access
Spa facilities
So I belive it is not down to opinions, but what is fact!
The Burj, does it have seven stars? Or is it just a marketing tool the in house people submit! I am in marketing and for me it is a good marketing strategy. How many people in the modern world don't know about the Burj??
:notworthy:
sage & onion
The Burj is supposed to be the first 7star hotel gtmash
Wasn't even 6-star enough? bushra21 the burj is somewhat tacky...emirates palace on the other hand...very posh sage & onion
That very much depends on your point of view though bushra21
well i thought it was obvious that it was from my point of view since i said it hon  sage & onion
Well I do know that my dear, it's just that I thought the opposite  bushra21 :D bushra21 :D apl
There's no international classification system as every country has different requirements: in greece for example you don't get a 3-star if you don't have a/c in the rooms; in finland you don't even need a window to make the 3 stars..
extreme example, but every national law is different, and sometimes even per region within that country. Some institutions (WTO, EU) have tried for years now to harmonize classifications, but the national lobbies are to strong to overcome yet.
it's usually a list of physical and service criteria such as elevators, per number of floors, how long is the reception open, room service yes/no, etc. - most of the examples you mention are actually in most brand standards of hotel companies, which are far more extensive than star classifications..
the Burj is officially classified as 5-star, as that is the maximum in the UAE. BabyDoll Can foreigner own hotels in this country? I dont mean operating it. I mean the actual ownership of the building since there is the licencing issue... Anyone knows?

Nope. Although it might now be possible in the freehold areas.
