Sounds interesting!?! I have the curry packet as well (kinda cheating), but I was looking for the right veggies to put in it, any ideas? I could do chicken or prawns, but need the greens, too! I can do pretty decent Indian dishes (decent for a white-bread Canadian guy) although I am sure there would be plenty of critics! I'd have to do a trial run first....maybe I'll bribe the chef at the previously mentioned BLUE ELEPHANT for his recipe?
Always green beans in a thai curry can do miniature eggplant if you like as well

Please list your favourite fine dining restuarants.
Feel free to quote the dish and expected $$$.
To start:
1) Zheng He, Al Qasr - fantastic dishes especially the pork ribs
2) Pieces, Madinat - good fish
3) Shang Palace, Shangrila - Dim sum is ok but limited selection
4) Shoo Tee Ma Fee, Madinat - cant remember the name of the dish
5) Thai Kitchen, Park Hyatt - Friday brunch
^ian^
Xheng He is at Madinat Jumeirah Mina A'Salam, not Al Qasr.
JMK

Not sure if they qualify as fine dining, as there is no "silver service", but pretty much anything at the Bustan Rotana is good in my books. "The Rodeo" is a little overpriced, but good. Their chicken caesar salad rocks and is a meal in itself (my to-from airport fave). As well the Blue Elephant is excellent and good value if you drink booze. Never had the Benihana, but I am sure it is on par. (maybe I'll try that this weekend)
The Asian fusion restaurant (new) in the Burj al Arab is wicked as well. The decor sucks, but the staff are the best around. A little spendy, though.
On that note, anyone have a recipe for Thai green curry....I need a fix!
The Major
Fire & Ice - Raffles
Gary Rhodes Mezzanine - G. House
Gordon Ramsey - Hilton Dubai Creek
Bice - Hilton
Hoi An - Shangri La

1) Benihana has 2 great deals that might interest you:
- Wednesday - seafood teppanyaki buffet.
- Sunday - seafood + meat teppanyaki buffet.
It is all you can eat for 1 hr slot including house wine @ Dh159.
2) I brought back some Thai green curry paste (packet) from Thailand. Since I am feeling generous, do you a deal. You cook I eat. Fit for party of 4. We get to nominate a partner each

Not at all, but it is the best one overall that I have been to.

You guys have some 'interesting' ideas of 'Fine Dining'................
BabyDoll
I concur
Concord
I think many people associate fine dining with "price" or "decour". Usually people that pay a lot of money for a meal feel obligated to say the food was "great" or "very good" lest they be thought of as fools for paying that kind of money for bad food - specially if the other person is unlikely to dine there. The same applies for the decour of a place - not necessarly "fine" food.
While the dining 'experience" can be fine (or refined) I am often dissappointed by the food. Either they are trying too hard or my expectations are too high (anyway the 1-1/2 times I've had "fine" dinning).
What's "fine" dining anyway?
BabyDoll
try Zheng He - thats fine dining in my book
Dubaidude007
Are you people saying that have a cup of tea at the local malabari tea stall is not an example of fine dining?
