female doctor moving to dubai - please help!

aussiedoc Hi, I'm a doctor living and working in sydney who is considering moving to dubai. Does anyone out there know about job opportunities for doctors? I am currently completing my specialty training in nephrology (kidneys) and have a year to go before I am a specialist (ie i have worked as a doctor for 8 years). I have contacted recruiters but it seems that i do not have the experience they require to place me. What is the best way of looking for jobs at my level? And what kind of contract length or salary can i expect? Thank you so much for any information.
dbxsoul i'd look at applying directly to some of the hospitals and clinics; many will not use a recruitment agency due to the high placement fees they would have to pay on a specialsit position. I know there is a list of hospitals and clinics on the forums, but will see if i can find a link for you to start with. at the moment there would be little use in applying for a position until you ready to move, although the background work would give you a good head start. basic contract is 3 years re-newable. packages are normally highly negotiable at this (your) level. aussiedoc Thanks for the advice dbxsoul. My partner is likely to move to Dubai next month with a plan for me to join him in August. I am hoping that by doing the groundwork that i could have a job lined up by then. I have contacted a few of the larger hospitals through their websites in the past with no replies. I think most of the emails go to the human resource departments and in my experience in australia, they are not the right department to look at applications (In australia - there is a medical administrative division who hire doctors and then refer them to the human resource department for processing). So i'm not sure if my emails are getting through. Links would be much appreciated. Thanks again. asif.ahmed Hi I understood your problem,as you are a non local you may face these problems, you can always apply through job portals or you can have a search here. You need to be careful of hospitals offering employment - some are dreadful! There are many good hospitals run by reputable hospital management for example John Hopkins, Cleveland clinic. Not all Gov hospitals have good standards. Private hospitals and clinics are not well regulated either. You need to be registered now with the Federal Health Authority. Also be careful about discussing your private life. If I were you I'd try some recruitment agents in Australia that specialise in medical Recruitment. At least they can give you realistic advice, and they vet all positions. Alineah I advise you to find private clinic in Jumeirah Road. One of the best area. The cost of living in Dubai is going down weeks after weeks but in hte same time job opportunity is reducing since director cutting staff and budget. But is you succeed to find a specialit expact establish in Jumeirah road and you show him that you are qualify he will be proud to offer you the right package. Find in google clinic in Jumeirah road this is your luck Bora Bora Check out Healthcare City Dubai website (google it). Any hospitals you contact I would suggest that you try to get the Hospital Administrator's name and send your CV directly to them, although it will probably end up in HR but the Administrator might make a better assessment of your qualifications and the hospitals needs than HR. HR doesn't know everything and Administration may have future plans that HR is not aware of. And yes, keep your private life private. There are no restrictions on what questions can be asked during interviews and it would be best to say that you are single and leave it at that. Good luck to you. james111 send me ur cv maybe we can do something for you here .cheers james
