G'morning,
Does anyone know the cost to export a brand new car from Dubai and import it to Canada?
Need to know export tax/duties here and import tax/duties in Alberta, Canada.
Thang u. :)

You can't Canada has specific rules for cars that are not older than 15 years. I'll do some digging but before you can import a car you have to prove that it was bought from a North American dealer and that it was originally designed for North America, you cannot modify it to meet Canadian Spec.
they do this to protect Canadian dealerships.
fayz
btw i'm from Calgary, what part of AB are you from?

Thanks Fayz,
I'm not Canadian, but someone there was asking about it.
:)
U still in AD?

If he can figure out a way to bring a car to canada please make sure he shares, as I really want to do the same, cars here for the most part (there are definate exceptions) are cheaper in Dubai the Canada.
The only loophole I know of is if you are visiting Canada, you can bring your car with you for a year. I know one guy in Vancouver who brought his Skyline with him when he came to go to University at UVic, but you can't resell it and can't keep it in the country for longer than 1 year.
Nah I'm back and forth a bit, I'll be in AD later this week for about 4 hours :)

Fayz, I spoke to the guy in Canada, he said he checked with Canada Transport and they said its OK to import it as its a new card. I forget how much he has to pay though; will ask again.
Any idea how much it costs to export here (export tax?) plus shipping costs?

for new car it will the GST+ QST. i know it is 14.5% for Quebec.

This must be Canadian Tax.
No export tax from UAE, if it's a new car you can even claim the 5% import duty back.

very good to know, thanks Ineeda.

NP.
But let him get the car into Canada and then I'll confirm to you for sure.
I dunno if places over there are like here - one person says yes, and another says no. ;)
Any idea on shipping costs by companies?
Thanks.

Thanks Cheap, this is another good link.
http://www.riv.ca/ENGLISH/HTML/HOW_TO_IMPORT.HTML
but from the Canadian Gov site it seems to suggest cars can only be imported if originally made/sold for the North American market, I'm curious to see if anyone has found a way around this. your link and the one above focus on US cars being imported to Canada.
