Worse than their initial attempt was the cover up when they claimed only 300 users complained and that the update was supposed to improve performance.

if you go to
r from your bb and download the application, it will remove the 'update' from etisalat or any other spyware (or adware - not really sure which is the right term)

Of course they deny and then refuse to comment lol..

For that you need to understand the core concept of Blackberry. Which is privacy. That's why so many business and nefarious elements(criminals, mafia) prefer them.
Off course that and some vague $ex appeal people seem to associate with it. That's why just bout anyone has a blackberry these days.
The BB is the most secure commercial wireless e-mail device, available in the market today. Messages are encrypted during transmission that's why nobody will be able to snarf ur messages between your BB and it's destination.
There is actually an S/Mime support pack available with BB. I'm not sure if Etisalat retails it though. This actually encrypts everything even on the internet.
Having said that, the ultimate security is essentially for BB to BB devices.
As to why would anyone want to spy? Checkout Vikings post on the thread Etisalat, Privacy and the BB!
