My new word of the day.
Du just rang me to tell me they no longer accept debit cards for payment of their accounts, and only accept credit cards.
For the record, I don't have a credit card proper, but have never had any trouble anywhere else in the world (even a casino in Vienna) using my Emirates Bank debit Visa card.
It makes me laugh that they would rather bill someone on credit where the person may not have the money, as opposed to someone with debit who DO have the money.
So I told the guy I would be there sometime in the new 2 months to pay my bill in person, in cash, and he seemed happy with that.
Not very customer service focused. Given the choice, I'd take Du's internet with Etisalat's billing.
Dupidity indeed.
