Dubai Police arrest two for stealing Dh1 million from 30 hou

RobbyG By Siham Al Najami, Staff Reporter Last updated: June 09, 2009, 22:59 Dubai: Police arrested two men for allegedly breaking into at least 30 houses and carting away about Dh1 million worth of cash, jewellery, electronics and other valuable items within a month. In a news conference, Colonel Khalil Ebarahim Al Mansouri, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said the suspects - both from Tanzania - allegedly broke into houses in Mirdiff, Jumeirah and Bur Dubai areas while its residents were at work or in school. The first suspect was arrested in Mirdiff three days ago and the second was pinned down in his hotel room in Al Naif in Deira. Police said the second suspect was packing his luggage and was preparing to leave the country when he was arrested. Some of the stolen items, including five laptop computers allegedly taken from companies in Abu Dhabi, were alleged recovered from his possession. Al Mansouri said police initially received a complaint from a Jordanian resident who said he lost his expensive watches, jewellery and accessories when unknown suspects burgled his house in Mirdiff in early May. Another complaint was filed on May 20 by an Emirati who said burglars entered his villa in Mirdiff through an unlocked balcony door. The suspects allegedly shifted their operation to Bur Dubai and managed to break into eight villas in Umm Suqeim, Umm Al Sheef and Jumeirah. In two cases, the suspects used mace to immobilise guard dogs, police said. Police have referred the cases to public prosecution. Police drive: Serve and protect A programme titled "080" was introduced by Dubai Police for villa residents. The service is available at the Dubai Police website. "Dubai Police ensures that people registered in the service undergo the protection and safety measures to their villas before travelling," said Lieutenant Colonel Jamal Al Jalaf, Director of the Criminal Monitoring Department.
sage & onion Why don't you post this stuff in Amsterdam?, most people here read the Gulf News so we don't need to see it again. RobbyG
Why don't you just mind your own business?
Your task is to moderate, not to tolerate.
I follow the forum rules for that and I don't see any changes made so far. Until that happens, just skip these highlights ol' Sagé.
Just skip it. uaekid
So this is your aim after all huh, to drag the (locals) into your pathetic world?
I'll tell you the truth ,you were doing fine at the beginning but you went a bit fare you lost creditability and now all you get is the usual 3 members replies on your thread out of the hundred members in DF ( get a hint ).
and for those living here, why do you need to read the news papers since you all know what is really going on ? To me most of the things are obvious.
Speaking in general and the bashing part … not to defend UAE or anything but why should it be any diff from other governments that sucks the lives and income out of its ppl, giving them fales dreams ,promising them the perfect lives and services, making their citizens suffer there stupid decsions and so on .. no need for a history lesson here… are you ppl sucked so deep into these things you got use to it and it became your usual life ? if so then you should be ok with what you clam UAE is doing, right ?
Keep up your good work robbyG :D arniegang our task is to moderate and............. if in our opinion it is just cut and pastes from local papers then WE may decide to moderate and REMOVE it. Like sage says we can all read the articles in the papers. This is a discussion forum and just posting newspapers links is not discussion. In fact all you actually did Robby was paste the article - you didn't make any personal comments or raise any points for discussion did you ?. If we get too many of these maybe it's time for us to trash threads that contain just links/paste. RobbyG
Arnie, like I said, if you want that just add another clause to the forum rules. I'll be the first to acknowledge it. No prob.
As for discussion, I post this article since it might induce a good discussion. This one just didn't had it. Perhaps because of our quarrel above. Who knows ;)
Normally I get plenty of locals that have something interesting to say on these articles and when that happens, I join the discussion if appropriate.
I know alot more topics that need moderation and tighter toleration. But hey, you guys can decide on that one.
Do we have a change of rules? Make it a sticky if so!
Thanks Scotsman pi$h, I need moderated, help ma bob sage & onion
You are simply another "Dubai Basher" all you want to do is post negative news about Dubai and you have never been here. Scotsman
#One up for the Sage, even tho I'm an oatmealer at Xmas  sage & onion
What is an Oatmealer?

RobbyG
Are you for real? :?
I know you are the utter optimist. That might explain your view from my perspective.
But let me get you out of that dream you're in. I am balanced in my opinion and definately not a hypocrite like you assume.
I am applying my ass off in Dubai and you say to me, that I'm a Dubai basher
You dissappointed me Sagé. I had you higher in my ranking list. Just dropped significantly by saying this to me.
You have issues  Scotsman in scotty land, we use it n chicks and turks for our stuffing. Me Ma is english so i know sage and onion, but I prefer the oatmeal chief! I do envy the roast beef & yorkshires tho  other than the roast pork taboo, there ain't nothin better than that. :D sage & onion
What issues do I have, you supposedly sit in Holland and constantly post bad news about Dubai having never been to the Country, I happen to live here.
And hey, I could care less whether I disappointed you or not. RobbyG
Lets be clear on this one.
I don't care about disappointment either, but the point is that you are talking rubbish. I'm no basher.
Where do you get it from?
Just take this post for instance. It is a positive development as Dubai police just caught some international group of criminals. Thats positive don't you agree?
I honestly think there is something wrong with you, because the majority of people don't share you opinion in my public forum responses and PM traffic.
Perhaps you are caught in the economic depression cycle. The media thrives on bad news and horror stories. With a few exceptions of 'green shoots'.
I'm balanced and I know that the majority will agree with me. Just start a poll if you wanna know for sure. I have confidence in that. sage & onion
Balanced or unbalanced?, do you really know the difference? RobbyG
I know the difference, as my comments contain two way arguments. Arguments from different perspectives in most cases.
Just look at your own posts and evaluate yourself for a minute. You are the utter optimist :D
Thats good in my opinion, but not when it affects reality, like in case of the economy. But then again, its not your territory.
Every story has two sides.
A good example for that is Herve Jaubert. The UAE charged him with money laundering or something like that. One side.
Herve said he fleed for his life for being pressurized by some government backed entities.
I don't know what is true in that story. I can't decide on that issue and neither can you probably. So we have to settle with two stories. I consider that balanced. And the individual can decide on what he or she believes is true for now.
You have a limited opinion Sagé. Perhaps you should elaborate on some of the above examples I showed you.
Do you have an opinion? 8) sage & onion
My opinion is as previously stated, and not for the first time, you are simply another "Dubai Basher" RobbyG You are absolutely crazy in the head :D I hope to soon get the opportunity to work and live in cultural diverse Dubai. I will enjoy it, thats for sure. ;) Misery Called Life Hey I'm with Robby on this one.... Every time I read a local paper my mind is filled with doubt. You just can't take what these guys say at facevalue. So yea posting the article and opening it up for debate is a good idea. Besides there are tons of threads on DF, if this one has to sink it will. I think the intentions of the poster are good. He just wants to initiate debate. Sage here is of the opinion that Robby is just another Dubai Basher. It's over to Robby to rectify that opinion!
sage & onion
Say whatever you like, RG is simply one of the many Dubai Bashers. What really makes him the exception is that he has never been here, so he actually knows nothing about Dubai, just what he reads. RobbyG
I knew I could count on you MCL. RobbyG
You are not implying that everything I read is based on lies?
I hope not :D sage & onion
Plenty of what you read in the media is grossly exaggerated, however you choose to constantly repeat it and obviously believe it. Stop Bashing the place and come and experience it first hand, then you will at least know the subject. Misery Called Life
I look at it a little differently. He's actually never been here yet he keeps himself pretty updated. That's cool. What better way to learn about a city then by reading the daily papers and being an active participant in local forums. Since I doubt he know any locals in les Pays Bas. RobbyG
Now we are talking a bit. I don't know where you get it from that I 'believe everything' the media writes. Cause I don't!!
Thats one of the reasons that I post this thread, and see if people are relieved that the perpetrators are caught. Perhaps some forum people didn't notice.
The police surely captured the criminals, so that can't be denied. I see this as positive news for Dubai residents. And with me wanting to live my life there for work and quality of life, it is of great interest to me what goes on about the City of Dubai.
My mind is very open and liberal. With humor and a tad of sarcasm to it to spice things up. Its the Dutch way to say where things stand.
You need to open up to other cultures Sage. You are too limited in your thinking. Scotsman bollox, gotta be here. Listen, soak it up, make up your own mind. Pstt, shove, sorry... thought i was still in democracy! Naive xpat signs off, for good. well, till sobriety  sage & onion
You simply have no idea  RobbyG
I do have an idea. You just showed to us once again.
You ignore to comment on my responses against your allegations. And you conclude with useless answers that say nothing.
If you would appreciate my elaborative explanation and are open to it, you would have commented in more detail about my arguments. So we can come to agreement.
You take a stand and keep a divide. Thats limited
Just showing you how a discussion works Sage. Sad I have to tell you with that post count of yours... 8) :D sage & onion
I have no reason to justify anything to you, come and experience Dubai, thats all I have too say to you. RobbyG
Again, not willing to listen to what I said...
If I had found my job, I would already be there. In the mean time, I keep myself informed about this part of the world. With your discussion points or without them.
In six months time, I haven't learned much from you Sage. But I did from all the articles I read and discussions that I had with others. You simply don't share an elaborate or balanced opinion. Just your limited statements ;)
Why didn't I find a job yet. Let me explain a bit:
The worldwide aviation transportation sector is about to lose $9 billion dollars this year. Thats a 15 percent decline.
After the WTC attack in sept. 2001, there was a worldwide decline in aviation transportation of 7 percent. It took 3 years to get back on the level before 9-11!!!
Despite the rose coloured projections of the UAE aviation sector, there aren't many jobs around for me after five to six months of applications.
I have to decide now, to continue applying for available jobs, or start pointing my efforts on the UK, where jobs are plentyful in a huge aerospace engineering sector.
Its not that simple Sage. If the economy ran like before, I would have had my desired job already....and living in Dubai sage & onion
Maybe it's a good thing that the economy has crashed, we really don't need your kind here anyway. RobbyG
"Your kind"???
My kind of people built all waterworks you enjoy on a daily basis. You have lack of respect for other cultures.
Whats that for low life response?
You are showing your true selve now. What an Onion you are!
I'm trying to explain myself to you, and you just hit me right in the face. Mr. Low life.
We're done. sage & onion
Your kind is "Dubai Basher" as for being another culture you may be slightly mistaken. RobbyG UAEkid, you try to say something, but you said nothing actually. With locals, I mean the local residents (including expats that live in Dubai for more than 1 year onwards). Not just emiratis. They represent a minority on these boards. I have to get my info from expatriates mostly. My credibility is not at stake here. I have a very clear and outspoken mindset. Perhaps you have it behind the elbows, but I surely don't. ;) Tell me kid, what is 'bashing' about this thread? vera.chandler vote for robby Misery Called Life The funny part is that this is NOT a Dubai Bashing thread. This events spoken about shed good light upon the police in Dubai. Sigh some people here just wanna crib....... kanelli Yeah, I don't get what the big deal is with this thread. The topic is not very noteworthy to me, so I just wouldn't comment on it. To see Robby getting all this crap for nothing is puzzling. Then arniegang comes out of nowhere talking about moderation and how threads like this can be deleted? There has been far more serious crap posted on this forum over the past couple of months and people had to fight to get the situation handled, so pulling the "moderation" card all of a sudden for such a pointless thread is also puzzling. Oh well...
