hmmmmm... this year's buffet is priced at 40 dirhams for 40 items...
i hope its really a buffet as opposed to the spoonful kinda portions that you're referring to....... oh well, fingers crossed!

is camel eating prohibited?

Last year's (or was it 2 years ago?) was disappointing for me. It was very expensive!
I know that the puny portions they serve are meant as samplers, but they should have at least considered adjusting the prices accordingly.
40 dirhams for a stupid spoonful of crab shreds, avocado and 5 pieces of fish eggs (caviar they call it. And yes I actually counted them). bleh!

Just wondering if any of you have been to Dubai Food Fest and if so, how it was... I couldn't make it last year and don't know what to expect...
I'm planning to go sometime this week, definitely this Tuesday for the Buffet. Hoping it doesn't disappoint me!
PS - I love food :)
Jot
went there last night.... it was very dissappointing! good thing there's a food court nearby... a lot to choose from hehehe

Miss_lolly --> I reckon it's called as Dubai Food Festival and not Gulf Food Exhibition - but hey, I could be wrong!
Thanks Jot...
I'll have that as my backup plan should tomorrow's buffet be a disaster.
bonk
There's Taste of Dubai at Dubai Media City which is expensive food samples and Dubai Food Festival in Mirdiff which sounds cheaper (I haven't been yet but 40 dh buffet sounds tempting).

That's something different again, an exhibition of food related services and products at the Dubai Convention Center.

^ Oh yeah I was referring to Taste of Dubai, sorry. The name is kind of fitting by the way, it is so expensive that you're really getting a taste of dubai. heheh.

Just to let you know... I went for the buffet, and it was nice... well organised & decent food.
I'm now thinking of going for the Dessert Festival.... 2009 varieties of sweets!!!!!!!!! I need a strict diet after this :)
firebird
We hit the Dessert Buffet last night and it was pretty impressive. It was all over pretty fast - like a plaque of locusts descending on a juicy crop field!
The final total was 2222 desserts!
The variety was huge although I didn't see much ice-cream or chocolate creations.
Now I've got to behave over the next few weeks to undo the fun!

2222 desserts - thats insane!!!!!!! I wish I went... damn... i sorta regret it - didn't go as I knew I wouldn't have been able to stop my mouth once I my jaws drop looking at the sweets..... went health conscious for a wee bit
I had a feeling that it might get over fast... oh well, I'll make up for my absurd weekend health diet... I'll enjoy the chocolate fondue @ Market Cafe!!!
Miss_lolly
