Dubai - An Islamic Vegas

Gene Check out this short documentary on Dubai; ...most of which talks about Dubai as being the flesh trade capital of the Middle East. Time for some investigative work of your own?? :D
175bpm surprised to see no replies   yes this is on dubai's doorstep an no-one does or says a thing. the documentary hits the nail on the head.. this topic should be a sticky and when there are 200 comments from people someone should sent the link to someone :? Its just totally wrong how can you be strict about somethings and not another :? can i see more views on this from more of the regular posters (175bpm in serious mode) :o sara_uk
you are in a serious mood, that is first  175bpm i only post for a laugh but things like that annoy me noni thank you for that video!!!! Very interesting to watch. Sad..but true that this goes on in not only Dubai but in so many countries. A friend told me that prostitution is really popular where the business men are so a city like Dubai is perfect. I think it has to be controlled though, before the UAE starts becoming known by the global community as "prositution haven". But, prostitution is thousands of years old....I dont know if it will ever not cease to exist. Its also horrible how so many of the customers are Muslims..living in a Muslim country...such a sad statement. bushra21 how come i cant watch the video? sniper420 so funny they didnt show much abt dubai and topic shifted to prostitution! It's travel guide  noni
agreed...you start watching thinking its this great tourism guide ..but then comes the realization that is concerns cyclone more sniper420 whereever therez money devils come flocking together to get their goodies...same is true for Dubai fayz Interesting I can't see it either, i think out of the people that commented only Bushra and I are in Dubai, i'm checking this from a free zone too, looks like it may be blocked,

I just watched it, interesting especially Cyclone, seen as the centre for Pro's in Dubai fayz
Did you just play it or used means to thwart the powers that be? just curious as now it bugs me that I can't see it, I have options to get around any blocks, they just are on my other computer, I'll have to try it on that one later. Gene I don't think there's any problems watching it from Dubai (yet I think). Gosh, I really hope they don't block Yahoo Video as well like what they did to YouTube. That really killed it for me man... You simply need to click on the link and wait a little while (30 sec?) for the video to load automatically. noni You know what is also interesting..the fact that the title is "An Islamic Vegas" ...way to give the religion a bad rep! rudeboy ok i know its a bad thing that dubai is a islamic place and things like this happening and the police doesnt do anything. i have heard its cos of 3 things. 1) to control the crime as in you wont have guys sexually harassing the women in the "nicer society" and its way of reducing crime on the streets that y the police dont do something. 2) since dubai is a hub for trading, this was introduced to attract more BUSINESSMEN so they would come here and spend more money on other things as well :D 3)its to do with the maafia could be russian or chinese or even indian. by the way the authorities wont arrest a prostitue for talking to his customer but i do know that they do have RAIDS on their houses once they get a tip off that something dodgy is going around here. I know its bad thing to be happening in Dubai but the crime rate low and women are safer at nite but then again it could be because everyone knows that if they harassed a woman they would get exported which most of these guys dont wanna do i guess. i 175bpm cant believe someone moved this post  mema well im disgusted...i know the prb exist but not this extent... i did have an incident where i saw somethn and reported and the police took the action required..i thought thy were doing their best..it certainly looks like its not enough.. :( d3vilish_ang3l_88 wow...i knew that dubai had prostitutes...but i didnt knw it was THIS BAD! .. i dont want dubai to be known as a home for hookers! Legendkiller
it's already like that
MaaaD Just saw the video, somehow i missed this post. Well as someone living in dubai for long this doesnt surprise me although i know many who have lived in dubai for long and are completely oblivious to this. This is to show that its not in your face as much as this documentary is trying to portray. Anyhow i am not defending this but i wish to show a different side of the story. The goverment wanted to have a liberal city with tourists from all the world coming, yet they knew the local enviroment wasnt ready for it. I mean the local traditions are pretty much at keeping men and woman seperate and in many many cases locals get married and dont even know what the wife looks like except fo a picture maybe. Anyhow i digress, but if the city wanted those tourists to flock in with there mini skirts and bikins if there was no avenue for the men to "release" there would have been one of two side affects 1) increase in rape crimes 2) increase in homesexuality among the men so this tightly controlled prostitution (and govrement is very aware of it .. how many countries do you have to test for AIDS to get a visa for) is not there just for fun, its important in the big picture. Again i am not defending it, but from the goverments point of view its a necessary evil. rvp_legend
Great point Maaad
Dubai from what i understand, had lots of cases of Kidnapping and rape during eighties and nineties. Ever since the influx of the working girls started the stats have shown these crimes to have decreased.
Also, it is a way to keep the working population away from the local girls. Damn the authorities are so possesive :-)
Dubai is a major city, like all major cities where there is $$$ there are girls, working girls. My first encounter with one was while staying at the Burj Al Arab when i flew in for my Interview. The concierge asked me if i was alone , i said yes and 5 mins later an Arab lady knocks on the door demanding x amount of Dirhams, told her to go away but the nasty piece of work didnt want to leave until i physically pushed her out. But i have had similar encounters at top London Hotels also. So its common. Difference here is that you have certain nightclubs who cater for this activity....but isnt the Cyclone authorised by department of Tourism, as per the programme?
And for those shocked that its happening in a muslim country - dont be.
On average Dubai has FAR fewer Prostitutes compared to for example , Pakistan, Bangladesh, India. Even if as a result of poverty it is still there and the customers are domestically based. Sara1983 Interesting Video Oh thats true prostitution is all over Dubai & is expanding! bushra21 i still cant see the video  kanelli Guys, the HIV testing is pretty much useless considering that many of the s.e.x workers come illegally or on tourist visas where neither is subjected to any HIV tests. There are many people becoming infected with HIV in this country every year because of this. Men are bringing it home to their wives, wives are having babies born with it etc. MaaaD its not proactive kanelli, its reactive. if you got HIV the next time around renewing your visa you get deported. checkerscom2000 i never knew this stuff happened in dubai Bleakus crazy stuff sniper420
Bleakus is now of to Cyclone ...... Gene Many of my bachelor friends ain't complaining, neither are my married friends. Some frequent the place often while others adopted the 'hear no evil, see no evil' attitude and carry on with their lives. The most important thing is that Dubai gives everyone here a choice without ever allowing it to get out of hand. There were even talks of a casino a few years back, no? To us ordinary working folks who are always thinking of ways to have fun & spend more money, the more choices we have the better! More restaurants; more pubs/lounges; more clubs; more boutiques; more record stores; more lakes; beaches & parks. Better still theme parks! That's what makes Dubai vibrant; less of a stranglehold on the freedom of choice and more interesting if not yet exciting. Bleakus
hahaha....your going there too ;) checkerscom2000 are they allowed to dress how they want to outside the club too? noni Yes..usually in mini skirts..tight tops...
