Drive to Qatar with car on finance

sbdesign Hi all I am planning on driving to Qatar, as I am re-locating there. My car is on finance. Basically, I want take my car there. But cannot re-finance and therefore register it in Qatar until I have my visa sorted. So I just want to drive it there for the first month, use it then sort out the registering. Anyone done anything similar or know of any problems this may cause? Thanks in advance.
orik Hi,
You Should Learn Qatar Law . For Example, Some Counties Allow This, Some Not .
So Found Out Qatar Car Registration Law. Dubai Knight Technically, your car is still owned by the finance company or bank (there is a mortgage on it). Normally they will not allow the vehicle to leave the UAE until such time as that mortgage is cleared. Speak to your finance company and see what arrangements they have in Qatar to be able to transfer the mortgage to that branch. At this point you can then get into the paperwork nightmare. You must first de-register the car in Dubai, obtain an export certificate and set of blue plates for it and THEN you start the problems. As soon as the vehicle leaves Dubai, you need an import certificate for Abu Dhabi, an export certificate to Saudi Arabia, an import certificate for Saudi, an export certificate from Saudi to Qatar and finally an import certificate to Qatar. Easier option: sell the damn thing here. Buy a new one in Qatar!   Knight sage & onion
It is extremely doubtful whether you will be allowed to do this. Better to sell the car as DK says. craigindubai
Such amazing insight.... Wasted here. Dubaidude007 You can import a car on finance to Qatar. I had a friend do this. Just be prepared though, the hassle involved may make you want to quit driving for good. MaaaD If your finance bank/company has a branch in Qatar this shouldn't be a problem. Ask them.
