Don't leave children in cars! - girl dies in Al Ain

Chocoholic I was horrified at the front page story of 7 Days today, about the 4 year old girl from Al Ain, who basically baked to death, after being left in her parents car for 45 minutes (so they estimate), with no AC or windows open. What parent in their right mind leaves a child unattended in a car? Let alone with no AC? Inside a vehicle the temperature can rise to as much as 20 degrees above the outside temperature. You don't leave your pets in a hot car, never mind a child. The parents should be charged with wilfull endangerment and manslaughter.
St.Lucifer   shocking.. how sad.. no words Tropic23 :( Poor child.... satan-the-redeema Was the child a native of Al Ain ? gtmash
The same ones who carry children on their laps in the front seat. They won't change. sauron The Gulf News version of the story says she climbed into the car, unknown to her parents, and fell asleep there. gtmash
Must be the parents' excuse. sauron Guess that depends on which newspaper you think is the more reputable and reliable. Still tragic, whatever the circumstances. HP Can i kill my future wife in same way? giggsy It's tragic and it happens all over the world. You hear stories like that over here in Canada all the time. It get quite warm here in the summer (30 degrees or so) but over there in the kind of heat you get...that's just insane! People, don't leave your pets or your children unattended in a car!

Yes, I've read about this happenning in USA a lot. Except over here, people have to be utterly retarded to risk it here. The fools obviously wanted to save a few bucks of petrol. xibit this is what happens when the father is out lookign for the second or third moroocan or lebenese wife the mother is getting satisfied by the driver and the philipino maid is raising the kids sage & onion
Absolutely tragic  Tropic23
Your wife?
Hahahahaha.........good one....really....that topic isn`t the right place for jokes.
Shame on you. EyeCandyDiva Poor child. This is severely upsetting. I read it happens in different countries but here, where a person can't walk two minutes in a street? I am still suffering from the heat and I am an adult, let alone a poor baby. bonk Radio show was talking about this last week. One phone-in said he broke a car window to let a suffocating dog out. Owners went nuts and called the police who charged him for damaging car. Police said he should have left dog alone. Does that principle apply to children too then? Tropic23
I hope not. Tropic23 I heard a new version today. The family were shopping. Then they drove home. But the parents were late for the prayer. So they run to the mosque and did order the maid to bring the shopping bags inside the house. The kid was still in the car. But the child fell asleep in the car and the maid didn`t recognize it. She was busy with the shooping bags. If that version is true, how is it possible that the maid didn`t recognize that the kid isn`t with her and that for almost one hour???? gtmash
Maybe maid is overworked? Few women go to the mosque for prayers, since it isn't required or there is no woman's area. No mention of mother praying in other reports either.
Your-ZION-Master Edited Chocoholic And WHY is it the maids responsibility to look out for THEIR child? Tropic23 It isn`t. It`s sad that parents need maids for their kids. dubaiforumuser
You know .. it is because of fuzzy laws and situations like this that lead people to be selfish, having no spirit to help others. Tropic23
Yes, you are right. It`s sad. yujinn
Haha! now they're blaming someone else huh! pathetic. DeeDee This is such a tragic story and its all too common around the world. I remember of one story of where parents left their two children in the car in a casino parking lot while they went to gamble for 4 or 5 hours. Someone found them, smashed the windows and the kids were taken to hospital for heat exhaustion. Then there was another story where a woman left her baby in the car seat with the engine on (for A/C presumably), went to pick up something from a shop, and found her car had been stolen. The police found the car about an hour later in a street, abandoned and the child still strapped in the car seat. Lesson: don't ever leave kids (and animals) unattended in a car!!! It's sad and unfortunate that some people are either ignorant or just don't know any better. ^ian^
If you're referring to the story of the lady in Melbourne, the child actually died. Horrific story. yujinn many died from CO poisoning also even when there's A/C (or more so if there's A/C) since there is a probability that the engine exhaust seeps inside the car Concord
What's that got to do with the thread. But thanks for the tip.
Terrible news but at least the reporting will raise awareness and hopefully prevent another tragedy. gtmash
I don't think this is any sort of issue. Otherwise all Dubai roads would be lined with dead bodies in cars during the summer. And lawsuits galore in USA. Concord
Who are they going to sue their parents for reckelessly conceiving them?
p.s. I think yujinn left out an important part. Running your car's engine with all windows closed while parked and for a long, long time, without the a/c exausting to the outside and with a faulty system might get you killed - pretty hard to die from it. Now if you lock yourseft in the garage with the engine running then another story...
