Do you know why the PIG (bacon) is prohibeted? tell me,


3DAnimationmaya do you know why in the islam the pig(animal) or pork meat is prohibited to eat? because here in western everyone ask me. I know the good reason. but what about you? do you know something? tell me?

Dogs, horses, and many kinds of toads also do. This is not a valid reason. Pink is not the colour of gay, the rainbow is. Pink is the colour most often associated with girls (and blue for boys) therefore a guy who work pink was a girly girl. Now, the reason why pork is harum and non-kosher is because of tape-worms. The pig's stomach is very conducive to tape worm breeding, and therefore pork in old times was rife with it. The tape worm was considered the work of evil (and it is!) and if you ate pork you had a high chance of getting one. It might also surprise you to know that on the genetic level, the pig is our closest relative. Go figure.

But there are many things in Islam I do believe in... eg giving to charity and the intention of good deeds etc. I'm not strict, but Islam does make sense to me. More so than Christianity, Judaism or Buddhism etc. The way I see it, is I take what I think is necessary from a religion to be a good, well rounded person and to get back to the point, I don't feel that eating bacon will change the way I am... sage & onion

once again, i agree with you. i mean i do things that are not allowed in Islam and my mum used to tell me that I shouldnt. now she just tells me to be careful about it. Ive read and studied about many different religions, but ive yet to find one that i feel more at peace with than Islam. yes, there are some things that i disagree with, but as whole, I love my religion -- i dont think ill ever convert. sage & onion

well it also refers to things that are allowed in islam. in islam there are three categories....halal, haram, or makruh.

it is only forbidden to consume alcohol. however, for medical purposes it is permissable as a last resort.... for example - alcohol used to be permissable to use as a blood thinner until a more medical approach came about ( i think it was a pill or something), then it was preferred to use the pill over the alcohol.

alcohol is clearly mentioned in the quran that it is prohibited to drink. But muslims still use as medical as a disinfectant and perfume to smell good. Its just not allowed to be drunk

But i got the general idea and here is my two pennies worth. I am not preaching lol
Pork is porhibited because Islam has dictaced this for the Muslims. In Islam there are few things that have Ilah (reason) behind the rule. As muslims the reasoning and intellectual thought is a part of the belief, by this I mean although many people are born into Muslims families and are thus Muslim, it is neccessary that we think about our belief and come to an intellectual appreciation of our belief.
for example in the Quran is says
"Behold ! In the creation of the heavens and the earth and (in) the difference of night and day are indeed Signs for men of understanding"
(The Quran: 003: 189,190) [this is only a translation]
This shows that man should think about his suroundings and the creation of the world.
So a lot of the rules of Islam are then a test for the Muslim, to see if his Iman (faith) is strong or weak. I assure you if I went to the shop bno w(im in the UK at the moment) and bought myself a nice bacon sandwhich for breakfast nothing is going to happen to me Allah isnt going to kill me or hit me with a lightining bolt, but I must now look at my faith and see it says it is not allowed and not eat it, i can come up with 100 reasons (from my own mind) as to why pork isnt allowed eg.
1. its dirty

2.As someone said before , two male pigs have S e x with each other
Answer: raise them in seperate pens or farms
Even if we do everything the pig is still haram (prohibited) and the reason for this is with the wisdom of the one who created the world.
As for Muslims eating pork, I am not perfect myself , but come on people is there really a need I mean not eating pork isnt going to kill you. My work mates get bacon all the time and even when im hubngry i dont even get normal sandwhices from the same shop cus i know they would have used the same cooking things for the pork and the eggs. I would rather go hungry its not hard , very cheap price to sell your Iman for some pig dont you think?

I just got around to reading this thread.
First off I'm pretty sure you can convert to another religion if you are muslim, search a thread by Shafique and he may clear things up.
Secondly for questions about Shrimps, I believe some forms of Shia muslim do not eat shrimp or lobster but in the Quran it says that all things from the sea are halal, remember there are 72 different kinds of Shia Muslim alone, all have their own slight variations.
Thirdly about the booze, I may be wrong but I believe in the Quran it never said you couldn’t drink but rather you could not show up to prayers tanked. My understanding is a hadith was created after. This may be why people are a little more lax about booze over bacon.
Forth, sort of a sciency answer for the disallowing of pork, Christians, Jews and Muslims were all forbidden, back in the day it was because pork spoiled very quick because there was no refrigeration or because of tapeworms, essentially you had a high probability of getting sick so religions banned it. I personally don’t eat pork out of respect, I’m sure it is likely safe to eat now with technology but I choose not to eat the ‘other white meat’ This is a choice I made, I do not look down at others that eat pork.
Fifth religion is between you and god, if you consider yourself religious and then judge other people in my humble opinion you are not. Religion is your relationship with god. People who judge others are themselves hypocrites.

As we all know every animal on this earth even humans have this process of coupling, the male is protective of the female, and they both would do it with each other only. I have personally seen this in budgies even if u put a 100 of them together, the female will only mate the one she chooses and will remain with the same male for at least the whole year may be more. Now this characteristic exists in every animal from small fishes to big mammals but it doesn’t exist in pigs. While one male pig has finished doing it with one female pig another male pig (or any thing) can come and do it with the same female pig and no pig over there would seem to mind or the first male pig wouldn’t stop the second male. This is what that disease does to humans. With the effect being that when the disease is in its initial stage in humans a male wouldn’t mind other males looking or ogling at his wife or sister but would instead feel proud thinking that what a hot wife I have. And in the worst case scenarios the couple would indulge in 3sums or wife swapping. And in the end would enjoy if some one else would be doing it with his wife (I know there are many physcos like that) Id like to know what u all think and yeah sry for explaining in layman's terms and not using scientific lingo. sniper420
