DK's Charity Head Shaving Appeal


Dubai Knight OK, this is going a bit far! I only suggested getting my hair cut...where did the dressing up in womens clothing and wandering down the Sheikh Zayed Road thing come in? With the way they drive here...I suppose you could classify it as 'drag racing' of a sort! I ain't doing it! No matter how much you pledge! :) Dubai Knight OK Ladies and gentlethings.... There has been a load of guff flying around on here about the state of my 'Barnet' (English Cockney Rhyming slang: 'Barnet Fair'=Hair!) Yes, its a mess! It has been grown for a specific job, which was postponed and now has been cancelled due to my shoulder injury. As a result, I find I am in posession of a ridiculous mop with a big shiny bald bit at the back (its a solar panel for a s.e.x. machine...honest!) The time has come! However I am not willing to sacrifice my locks so easily! Therefore I am willing to ceremonially have it all shaved off...in return for a sizeable donation to charity! I have yet to decide on the recipient, however I am currently in favour of K9 Friends and I am looking for a HUGE amount and coverage for Dubai Forums in 7 Days at least! There will be a special donation required from the person (or persons) who wish to be nominated as 'The Cutter' and I think it will have to happen at a suitable location where everyone can see their handiwork as it falls to the floor! As suggested to Lloydy last night there is a small charity here that helps disabled kid (we did a car run for them a couple of months back) One is all for downs syndrome and the other is Teens for Positve action. The latter encourage teens to spend some time every week with disabled and disadvantaged kids to enrich the quality of both groups lives ... and who said kids in dubai are spoiled Other than that kitty or doggy charities are cool CG sage & onion As DK is having the dirty deed done I think he should be allowed to select the recipient, however being the grand chap that he is I am sure that he will take all suggestions into consideration. Here is a suggestion that may help the "cause": every 50 dhs pledged = 1 vote towards the final selection of the charity.
(bearing in my that I am partial to K9 Friends as I know they get zero assistance from the goverment and do a grat job simply from private donations - and it was the first possible recepient mentioned).
I have another idea but I'll wait on that one! kanelli I pledge 100 AED. Any charity is fine with me, as long as it is one that gives the majority of what it receives to the actual cause, not to admin fees. (I hate those kinds of "charities".) scarlet 100 dhs from me too. Thanks for asking. I've collected 1850 (including my contribution) out of 5,220 pledged. I've been away and quite busy. X has some of the money (he has collected from others) we just haven't been able to meet. The good news is that the machine was already bought and paid for (on trust). Some people pledged from outside Dubai and they will give it to me when they are here.
There are only 2 people who pledged and "disappeared" so far! We may have to send the DFM boys to "bust some knee caps"!
Now, back to DK's charity it is up to 2,000.00 dhs, Next... arniegang Concs Name names :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: ineedacoolnick AED 100 from me. I think a grand total of Dhs.2400 for the sight of my flowing blonde locks hitting the floor is as good a price to pay! Have decided that a Childrens Charity will be the beneficiary and have made contact through a friend with an institution that helps kids with Thallasaemia and other blood disorders. The official cutting ceremony will be tomorrow night (Thursday 24th August) and Concord has the honour (if he can make it) of being the official 'cutter' as he made by far the highest bid. As for choice of venues, I am at a slight loss as I would like a place that is easy for everyone to get to and also might allow a little 'silliness' to go on. Possibilites so far are: The rooftop at the Radisson Media City. The verandah of the Dhow and Anchor pub at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. I would obviously have to call these and try to get some sort of confirmation that they will allow a small invasion...with hair clippers! Confirmation as soon as I get it!
