Hi Guys
I've been lurking around this site for a couple of weeks now, it is really great. I'm an Aussie out here in Dubai for a week considering a job offer and the big move. As the subject of my query may suggest I'm diabetic, a type 1 diabetic to be exact.
I was wondring if there were any type 1's out there who would be prepared to share their insights with me as to availability of supplies etc etc. One of my main concerns is that I use an Insulin pump and don't know if consumables are available in Dubai and if they are whether they would be affordable. My job offer includes private medical insurance.
I know that this is a pretty specific post and I hope I have posted in the right section, if not sorry in advance.
OT: I heard about the snap public holiday with George Bush in town. I would imagine that normally such an event would be cause for celebration, but if it's anything like Sydney when he visited for APEC, they have to give you a week off to make up for the hassle!
thanks
Michael.

Very high incidence of Diabetes in Dubai do a search on google for that topic. Most pharamcies actually advertise diabetic products in their windows.

My husband is a type 2 diabetic and we are able to find quality consumables and insulins without any problems. Although my husband does not have the pump, I will inquire next time I am at the pharmacy and report back.
There are a number of good diabetic doctors in town, and I really don't believe you will have any problems. As the previous comment mentioned, unfortunately diabetes affects 25% of our population as well.
