HI Peeps,
I got to get Dewa deposit back for someone. the connection has been already cut. i have to go and get it cancelled and remove the registration from his name. the bill for may has been paid and he left the country on june 7th. So i guess they will cut the charges for the remaining days from the deposit and refund rest of the amount.
I have an authority letter from him along with his passport copy, is there any procedure involved in it?
any help appreciated.
cheers,
J

Best way is to just go to a Dewa office and tell them what you want to do and they will let you know. I imagine that you should have no problem since you have the authorization letter (bring your own passport as well).
Cancellation of services is a pain in the arse. I cancelled my phone line with DIC in February and they are still sending me bills!!!!!!!

Jeevan, they will require you a letter address to DEWA but it should be signed by your friend (authorized signatory), copy of the deposit slip issued by DEWA before for the refund and DEWA bill with stamped that says (FINAL BILL SETTLED), then they will issue DEWA Clearance Certificate and the refund.

Good luck. I am currently being jerked around the DEWA head office trying to get my security deposit back. They made a completely inaccurate final bill for me, and no one wants to take responsibility.

if they do that to me i would say thank you, and let the guy know its not happening :)

Okay, I got my sheet done. At the DEWA HQ, hall 3 is where everything is supposed to be done, where the local girls are sitting at numbered desks. If there are issues, bug the busy Indian/Paki guys in hall/room 2. After making them sort stuff out, go back to hall 3 again. Basically everything happens in these 2 halls/rooms.

Hehe. It's been there for ages. It's between Grand Cineplex/Hyatt and Wafi, on the way from Garhoud Bridge to SZR.

My experience of closure :)
went to DEWA near wafi city, reached at 8 20 am, entered the consumer billing department , enquired if this is the right place for final settlement and refund - answer yes time 8 23.
Got a token, the number was immediately displayed. The lady asked for the documents. provided the last bill, informed i dont have the original deposit receipt, provided my ID. (the only document i had was the final bill, authority letter to close the account, and passport copy of the person whose account had to be settled. She printed out a receipt attached the documents and final settlement bill and sent me to the cashier. Signed the receipt, collected the cash - out 8 35 am.
I am still in a state of shock that it was so easy  and people so helpful
cheers,
J

Good it worked out for you. If there are no screw-ups in the records, they do the job very quickly, and the line in the morning is almost nil.
