Destiny or luck??

Tropic23 Do you believe in destiny or in luck? I`m confused at the moment..... Thanks for your postings :D
Lithium222 I believe in a little bit of both! :D giggsy That's a tough question. I believe you create your own luck. I believe that destiny can guide you with a gentle hand but then you have to take the cues, read the signs, make your own luck and ultimately make your own destiny. I do believe in karma though. Tropic23 I believe also in karma. Every action in your life gets a part of your karma. I guess, I believe in destiny. I`m sure that all very important things in your life are already written down in a big book. You can just make decisions about "unimportant" things. For example: Which movie should I watch? . . . That`s an unimportant decision...... . . . But when Mr. Right is sitting next to you in the cinema.....maybe the decision of which movie wasn`t luck, but rather destiny..... ^ian^ It's impossible to believe in all three... destiny, luck and Karma. Tropic23 Thanks Ian for your posting...... Is it possible to get an explanation?! sauron
Unless, of course, you are a Bohemian. ^ian^
Well... I asked Dr. and he said.
Destiny means it cannot be changed.
Karma means you get good from good, meaning you can change the outcome through your actions, thus negating destiny.
Luck means it just happens without cause or resolution from your actions which negates Karma. Luck also eludes to being in the right place at the right time, which is counter to destiny, because there was no luck, it was 'destined'.
All three are incompatible beliefs.
I wouldn't question Dr.D on these things... his record speaks for itself. Tropic23 You can believe in karma, luck and destiny at the same time. Destiny: The frame of your life is already written down. Luck: Some "unimportant things" are in your hands. Or like Ian said.....right time, right place.... Karma: When your behaviour is bad, when you hurt people, animals,... and so on......then you get negativ points on your karma account. You will get back all the negativ sh***in this life or in the next one. Well, it is possible to believe in k, l, and d!!! Just the frame of the puzzle is ready.....the middle has to be create ^ian^
It's a good theory but no, they are incompatible concepts.
In fact, any concept that belies some invisible force is responsible for your 'lot' in life is a load of hogwash.

Tropic23 You can`t be sure, Ian.... Maybe..... Many things on this crazy planet you can`t explain!! I still believe in Nessie. LET`S GO OLD DINO LADY!!!!!! 8) Tropic23 .....well.....I guess......I need fresh air..... Not_Sure :sleepy3: ^ian^
I can be totally sure - things just don't 'happen'. You have to make them happen.

Well... perhaps you're proof of that.

I've been to Loch Ness, all around it... there's nothing in there. lion0009 Your overall circumstances or condition in life (including everything that happens to you) yes Tropic23
Cuuuuuute "Not Sure, if I`m really a guy, so I go 10 hours per day in the gym, so that I get hopefully some muscles, so that I can at least pretend to be male" is back!!!! Not_Sure  :sleepy2: Tropic23
Ok Ian, I got it.
You are a realist.
That`s ok
....and thank you!!!!
My only aim in life was to see Nessie!!!
Now my dream is destroyed.....
Great work.... giggsy I'm kind of with Ian on this one. Sort of. I believe that something does guide you gently along a path. By that I mean putting you in places and situations where you have to make your own decisions. I can't believe that it's someone's destiny to be homeless. Or it's a child's destiny to be killed in a car crash. We're put it those situations everyday. For example, I go to the pub. Do I have a pint or 12? Do I call a cab or do I get in the car and drive home drunk? Every decision we make twists and turns the path you're on. If I choose to drink 12 pints of glorious Guinness and get in my car and kill someone driving drunk that's quite a different path than had I gotten in the cab and went home to wake up the next day. I don't think destiny guides you on those. I think maybe people call destiny in when they're hoping things turn out for the best. For example, I turned a job down in Dubai last April because my wife wasn't comfortable leaving her home town. I obviously really wanted to go but decided my wife is more important than my geographic location. So now I'm here under a foot of snow, not doing professionally what I want to and saying, there's a reason for everything. I guess it was 'destiny' that made me stay for some reason. I dunno. As I said, I do think there is something that guides you. I believe you create your own luck. And I do believe in Karma. Whether or not that Karma comes from some cosmic place or my own head because I know what's right and wrong. Hope that makes sense.
look4thebest "The harder i try the luckier i get" A. Golfer 199? Could apply anywhere!! :D bonitta I think that we build our lives by our behavior, attitude towards ppl, many other things.also I believe that some ppl has good luck...and I donno what shud 1 do to get it..unfortunetly. Galactico I believe in Destiny whatever is written does happen 8) sauron
Wrong! Wrong! You're Australian, you don't really understand. You haven't been DOWN there. Globetrotter

I don't know about you all, but I sense some tension here...
Did we miss something here?
"The quarrel of lovers is the renewal of love." .... LOL Tropic23

THANK YOU SAURON!!! :D Tropic23
Hey Globy,

.

.
"The quarrel of lovers....."??
I hope you don`t mean Not S. and me  ^ian^
Ah but you see I have been DOWN there. I have been to the Monster Research Centre, and I have been around the entire Loch... done the research, compiled the evidence... and I can tell you with 100% certainty,
there is no Nessie. Tropic23 But that means, that you believed in Nessie before. Cute  Did you also try to find the last unicorn and Big foot? ^ian^
 Galactico
Why do you think im soo confident
but shhhssh Nick will be on our case again  Tropic23
   sauron Nessie is our national treasure. You're just jealous cos you haven't got one, ^Ian^. Tropic23
Yeah, that`s it..... Tropic23
 ^ian^
You've never heard of a Bunyip? sauron Nope, do tell. Obviously not something you get from wearing shoes that are too tight. Tropic23 Bunyip.....everybody knows that. The story about a big snake with a beard or a a snake/human creature with fur, long neck and bird head. You believe that Ian? ^ian^
I believe in the power of mind control.... Tropic23 I have this power. ^ian^
I made you say that. sauron [quote="Tropic23"]Bunyip.....everybody knows that.
The story about a big snake with a beard or a a snake/human creature with fur, long neck and bird head.
But that's enough about Ian. ^ian^ [quote="sauron"]
Har Har Har!
Sauron, not only are you a dodgy poet, but you're a dodgy comedian too. Jeevan Well dunno if these things exist or not but nessie, bigfoot, bermuda triangle ( i guess theres enough conclusive evidence on that one to prove that this area does exist) etc etc they surely make an interesting read and keep us mortals minds involved and entertained and interested for a certain period of time. Would love to belive that they exist :) Tropic23
I made you think that. Tropic23 [quote="sauron"]

Great Sauron sauron A big snake with a beard..........................Nessie just pales in comparison. Tropic23
They exist Jeevan
Prove it :) and i will believe ^ian^
I can't argue with this description... I do have a beard and a....
 ^ian^
I made you think you made me think that.
I know what you're going to say... and you're wrong (unless you're right). Concord
   I think you might be creating work for air traffic controllers! ^ian^
Well... they need the overtime... I met one last week and they have it easy man! sauron
Hmmm, but how's the hair fall? You must be about bald as a coot by now.
No offense, Jeevan - on you it looks good. Tropic23
I will... Jeevan
man u confuse me  when did u see me we havent even met as yet Tropic23
I am right Tropic23
That`s scary.... ^ian^
Are you sure... or do you just think you're right? Tropic23 But Sauron is right. You look good without hair, Jeev. ^ian^
Wait until you meet him! Jeevan
will wait :) sauron
You said you look like your avatar. I believe that. I also believe in Unicorns. Ian made me say that. Jeevan ^^   ^ian^
Wasn't me. Part of mind control is not being obvious about it.
Plus you need something to work with.
I mean, what good is pottery without clay? Tropic23
I`m sure.
I made you think that you think that you made me think.....never-ending story ^ian^
I had nothing to do with it. Tropic23
I`m not a scary cat. Tropic23
I made Sauron think that Ian made that.... ^ian^
Tropic... Mind control requires 2 brains.
The controller and the controllee.
I'm not sure you can be either. sauron
There he goes again .....the pot calling the kettle Tropic23
Well,....you think that.... ^ian^
Don't be a saucerist. Tropic23
I`m the controller. sauron Ooooh, I love it when you talk dirrrrrrrrty. ^ian^
 sauron  totally out of control now - that was meant for Ian. Tropic23 The topic was about destiny and luck and now we are talking about brain control......weird.... ^ian^
My fault. Tropic23
No, it isn`t your fault......
I control your brain.
So, it is MY fault. ^ian^
Well, at least I can use this as evidence against people who call me brainless. (Which seems to be a lot lately!) sauron I put it down to destiny. Jeevan its geeting difficult to track now :S Tropic23 Everybody needs an excuse. ^ian^
Sometimes no reason is the best reason.
Anyway, I'm off to Bab Al Shams shortly.... later peeps. Jeevan
relaxing at this time of the day  if ur ,may u be gobbled up by a anaconda  Jeevan DP sauron
 Now, now, Jeevan - that's not ...............nice. Bye Ian. Miss you. Wish I could escape from the office. :( Tropic23 What means DP? sauron Dopey Person. N0...........kidding. Means Double Post. Jeevan looking forward to some respite on this thread:) Tropic23 I see, thanks......I`m still confused with short cuts. sage & onion This lot is actually quite funny, however, considering the amount of times my dear friend Ian has criticized the Sage for his one liners etc., I would like him to go back over this thread and tell me what is so different about this thread.
