Hi all - first time on this forum, so bear with me please!!
We have been offered a role in Dubai, with "guaranteed" places at DESS for our kids (9&11). The website looks ok, and the curriculum is fine (we're Ozzies) but is it a good school? We got burnt in Doha, so are quite wary...

thanks for that - good to know. Can you recommend a decent area to live nearby? I will be working in Deira, and it seems the Springs/Meadows/Jumeirah etc are a long way from both? But Mirdiff (sp?) I am told is downmarket... Need a pool, so hoping for a compound, but we have no idea I'm afraid!!

You talking about or ? Both are good but primary school is in Mankhool near Maktoum Bridge and secondary school is at Academic City. Jumeirah etc ok for Academic City. Mirdiff better but I'd rather live in Jumeirah. Nowhere is good for Mankhool. Put your kids on the bus.
