Over the weekend I had that feeling, because of smthn of course
& I kept sayin over & over to my friend I'm such a fool, I'm the biggest dumbo on earth, there should be recognition held for how stupid I am & all that crap of makin myself "the VERY DUMB thing on earth", She said to me "Sara, u see that building go to the roof & jump." lol I laughed & said thnx for givin me that wise option :P sage & onion

Basic rule is divert your mind. I eat chocolate. This is the only one thing that helps me (I have not found another one by now). However, it is good only for a short period.
Since I am in depression for a pretty long time already, I gain some extra kilos......:( weary_heart 1 - I smoke... a lot! 2 - I cry... 3 - I drink... till I feel sleepy/tipsy 4 - I play tennis... always thinking the person who made me mad and you bet my service is good! scarlet Go for a walk. You're in London right? Spend a day at the tate or hyde park with a good book. Go to a make-up counter an dplay around, go for a long drive with your favourite girlhood boppy tunes and sing really loud Go see a movie at the cinema by yourself. Nick81 Well let's see I am not depressed but I am not really happy at work and have to deal with a lot of stress... So my way to deal with that in NORMAL conditions is to exercise... Luckily with my Ramadan schedule I think I'll be able to do it everyday, but otherwise I have found it impossible to find the time or energy to do it. I guess it is important to understand WHY you are depressed.
Well, in my situation it is because my biggest problem for now cann't be resolved for 4 months already...:( And all these 4 months I feel myself really bad.....

I usually try to deny that I am depressed and put my happy face on. When really depressed I tend to eat choclate, call a really good friend and vent, redecorate the villa, go outdoors and play in the pool while listening to good music, SHOP, or tell myself what a lucky person I am and get on down the road!!! Depression is not good for us. We have to fight it, and not give into it. If one gives into depression it becomes a huge pity party and you only hurt yourself, then you're furious with yourself because you let it get the best of you. Cheer up Sara! Very true. The first time I really had a depression was also the last time. And I intend it to be this way forever... I am the first one to admit that it can be very VERY hard to overcome it... Because most of the time it's something personal, something too personal to discuss with anyone. Sometimes it's for some reason that you can't even pinpoint.
Some of the things I did to overcome it was to build up my confidence, my self-esteem. Takes a lot of work, a lot of dedication... Changing the way I saw myself was extremely hard but in the end it paid off. XRW-147 Depression is crap... I gave in to it once and it nearly killed me. Never again.

Dubaiquote is correct. Everything happens for a reason. Of course, I am one of the oldest ladies in DF and being that I have been through tons of tribulations in life, this is easy for me to say. It is true though. Sometimes things happen that seem so horrid then a door opens. Our attitudes about ourselves, life in general, and keeping a perspective help us all keep our "shit" together. We all have some bad day's and that is not all bad. It helps us to acknowledge that we are only human, makes us realize that we can do better, and gives us more knowledge about ourselves.
Life is a journey, make it good! Hope this helps you. Just make sure not to spend too much time alone when you're in that mood... Everyone thinks being alone helps in those cases but it actually makes it worse. You need to get your mind off all the things that are causing you to feel blue. And hey remember, you are the best, you said so yourself :wink: Be strong and don't let anyone, anything get you down! / kanelli What about taking St. John's Wort - it is a herb that has been thought to calm and improve one's mood. I have had some friends and family take it in times of depression. Here is page with lots of info - don't know how reliable it all is, but you can wade through it. / I've suffered from heavy depression once, and it was rough. I don't believe it was a god testing me - it was me being a teenager with imbalances in my hormones and brain chemistry. In the end, my parents and friends were the people who got me through it. Also, you need to exercise (very imporant!) and stop yourself from indulging in the depressive thoughts. E.g. being alone and thinking negative things about yourself or your life. Get out and be with people who care about you! Do something active. Believe me - when you feel you have hit the bottom it is comforting to know that there is no place else to go but back up! :D You can and will get through it. Sara1983

2nd thing those "internet" people were nice and pretty helpful, dontcha think!!!!!!!! valkyrie My recommendation is that you should ask your doctor for wellbutron. Its from a different family than prozac/ zoloft and has very little side effects(dry mouth I think is one). I'm sorry i don't have any personal anecdotes to help you, but nick81's advice actually sounded pretty good. Sara1983

Anyway IMO you should stay away from drugs unless you are suffering from severe depression... Way too many side-effects and in my book, the less drugs I take, the better. I hate depending on tiny white pills! (yes even panadol!) Sara1983
lol I so know wat u're talkin about, cause I'm just the same, last thing I think of doin is takin pills!!!! Nick81 But it's not easy when you suffer from chronic migraines!! I only have them 2 or 3 times a year but when I do the first solution that comes to mind is grab a drill and find the source of the pain!! :evil: That might be the only time where I use pills, but even then they hardly help... eat lots of chocolate and chips!!!!! Chocoholic I wouldn't visit a normal GP to ask for pills, first you have to figure out if it is actually despression you're suffering from, and a visit to a good - wait for it - don't be scared - shrink or councellor can do the world of good. They willt ake you through all the things that are happening in your life and find out what the problems are. Sometimes it's really good to talk to someone who doesn't know you, as they are more objective. Only if they feel that you are suffering from a severe level of depression or clinical depression will they prescribe uppers, or anti-depressents, and I do not recommend them at all. Tablets like Zoloft can turn you into a complete unfeeling zombie, with zero emotions at all, they are not good and I totally recommend people to stay well away from them and try natural remedies instead. If you can find a herbalist chemist then try asking for the Bach Flower Remedies, Rescue Remedy works wonders, it's brilliant. Chocoholic

Princess Banana Hammock Yeah, pills would be awful. Maybe they'd help on the short term but your body will become used to them and you'll NEED them to be happy at all. The only time I've been depressed (it was over a guy. Smack head against brick wall) I listened to sad songs and ate chocolate gateaux and didn't leave my room for a few weeks. Now when I'm sad, I keep myself busy with my friends and find I soon forget it. valkyrie I've read that MB releases seratonin, also its good for your immune system.
