I thought I'd post this because there were a few people whining that the UK newspapers only published a story about British people having s*x on a Dubai beach because it put Dubai in a bad light. You might like to take note that UK press is not censored (unfortunately not even self-censored most of the time) and publish trash about the UK too. You might even try reading UK newpapers online, if you have a strong stomach, and you may learn something about that of which you speak.
p.s. - the nationality of the naughty couple is not mentioned here although I think the woman is American. Both drunk, as usual :(

LONDON - Queen Elizabeth II was at home at Windsor Castle, the sentries who guard her were on duty, and the large park surrounding the magnificent building was full of tourists.
So it didn't take long for people to realize that something was out of order when a couple enjoying a picnic on the lawn allegedly had too much to drink, stripped naked and began having sex on their blanket.
"One window from the guardroom opened up and when a soldier saw what was going on he told his mates — and lots of windows opened up," witness Mark Robinson
told The Sun newspaper .
"The couple did not care who was looking and just kept going as if they were in their own bedroom."

Japanese tourists filmed the couple, who only stopped when police officers arrived on the scene, witnesses said.
Thames Valley Police said the man and woman were arrested and cautioned for outraging public decency in the Sunday incident.
The queen was in the castle at the time, but her office declined Friday to comment on what had happened.

What is your point, Speedy?
Is it excuse Vince the Charming and his fairy as soon as another Brits made love in front of the palace?
Is it common an intimacy in some very famous spots in the UK? I don't think so.

RC, if you can put the blinkers down the point was very clear and was made up front.

Well if she was American, she probably thought she was in Central Park.

I don't know those "a few people". Many people think that that couple was lucky to be Brits. So British press pulled them out of jail very quickly although their deed was obvious and Vince himself confirmed it just after first step on British soil.
That's what exactly British press did.

See, people can be arrested for public indecency anywhere in the world, but it doesn't mean they should get long jail times and deportation etc. It embarrasses them to be arrested, story printed in the paper, and slap a fine on them. No need for anything more drastic than that. Punishment should fit the crime.

The British press didn't do anything. The UAE government made their point and then let them go, as they do with a lot of foreign offenders. Why would you expect this to be handled any differently?

Col. Blimp,
You emphasised wrong words.
The real message you wanted to send to "the City and the World" is following:
You might like to take note that UK press is not censored (unfortunately not even self-censored most of the time) and publish trash about the UK too.
I agree. Watching Western TV (not including BBC maybe) I understand that they definitely
sometimes publish trash about "the City" but about "the rest of the World" they publish trash in 99% cases.
uaekid
you mean like 7 days ? my god ,what kind of a news paper dedicate it's news for 99% trashy and negative news happening in the UAE ? And I guess their only reviewer is chocoholic :)

You are entitled to stick to your mis-reading of the situation.
More name calling I see. You stay pathetic. And anti-British which quite tickles me.
You should have emphasised your words
that couple was lucky to be Brits as that is the big chip on your shoulder. That is so true, we are lucky to be British, and you hate it....
Are we starting again, so boring.

nice story but its turning out to be a rumble...hehehe time to trash this at 99.9% :violent3:

Speedy, You and me both read here about the similar case with Filipino couple who sentenced in jail for a year though.
Who is pathetic after that?
kanelli
I'll go get some popcorn.

Excuse me but I read that they were released too. You are pathetic with your name calling and xenophobia, I refuse any more to go down to your level.

Lol. that's too much! Should have atleast kept some clothes on.
Red Chief
Speedy,
It doesn't mean that I don't believe you but could you confirm your reply by reference on some newspaper? Just for accuracy.
Speedhump
Anyway what the hell has that got to do with the British press reporting on the Windsor matter? And how does it make me pathetic. Stop trying to lay smokescreens, everyone can see straight throught them to the fact that you want to attack me at any opportunity. I made two posts yesterday and in both threads you made anti-British comments. Your life is very sad if that's how you get off mate ;)

Of course I didn't keep it. It was weeks ago. I think it would have been 7 Days but I also read Khaleej Times, Gulf News and The National when I have time.
Anyone else remember it?
Speedhump
I can only find this online at the moment, these were not 'lucky' to be British either, Strange? It doesn't fit your view of the UAE Courts being terrified of the British press.

New Sex on the Beach Couple Get Reduced Sentence
Sex on beach couple given reduced sentences
03/13/2009 09:46 AM | By Bassam Za’za’, Senior Reporter
Dubai: An intoxicated couple, from Myanmar, were given a reduced jail term after being convicted of having sex on Jumeirah Beach and committing an indecent act in public.
The couple, a 26-year-old salesman and a 20-year-old saleswoman, had earlier admitted having sex on the beachside and pleaded for leniency before the Dubai Court of Appeal, which Thursday overturned the initial ruling.
Presiding Judge Adnan Al Farra granted the couple a reduced punishment when he awarded them three months for having consensual sex in public and committing public indecency. The judge awarded then an additional month in jail for having liquor.
The two will be deported after serving their sentences
The Appeals Court on Thursday overturned the primary verdict - one year in jail for consensual sex and public indecency and one month in jail for consuming liquor - delivered by the Dubai Court of First Instance.

Yes,
It was the case I was talking about. I made a mistake mixing up Filipino with Burmese. Sorry.
I'm glad that the judge restricted their prison sentence drastically.
Thanks, British press!
... but nobody is released so far.
