Cost of living and other questions

AjmanBound Hello (and sorry for asking such and obvious question)! Me and my wife are moving to Ajman ( I know, you all wonder WHY !! ) in January and would like a little info on few things - so all answers as much appriciated. 1 - DEWA costs for 1 bedroom place (per month) - with just two of us living there ? I know that has been asked many times before, but mostly for 3-4 bedroom villas. So we just wanted a little more relevant info. 2 - Food costs in comparison to U.K or what you usually spend a month per couple ( we don't drink so no need to add anything for that)? I am a Chef so we would mainly eat at home. 3 - Leasing a car - a 'reasonable' price to expect for one year?? For a nice small car, nothing flashy. 4 - Can one get Internet connection without having a Residence Permit ? As we would only need Internet - not phone connection. Is that possible? If we could get some views on these issues, that would help us nicely on our plans on the move. Thanks for taking time to answer us. Kind regards, AjmanBound
The Major I don't think you can do anything here without a residents permit, they would need to see that for internet and DEWA connection. gtmash DEWA has no jurisdiction in Ajman. Who runs the electricity cartel in Ajman anyway? Costs would be around Dhs 700 max in the summer. bonk 1. Like gt said, Ajman not DEWA. Presume FEWA or something. 1 bdrm apt 150-300 dhs per month, villa 200-500 dhs per month. 2. 1000-4000 dhs per month, depends what you eat. 3. Hertz were advertising something small for 1400 dhs per month, I think a 2 or 3 year lease. 4. Possible but difficult. You need to find someone with wasta to sign it off for you. gtmash You might need a proper residence visa for a long-term car lease and an electricity connection. So what is your visa status anyway?
