Has anyone been involved in a car accident? Are the police always called?
sharfraz
nope not involved..touchwood...
you need the paper given by a cop to get the insurance...
bushra21
yes and yes
shariqq
Yes.
And depends on your fault or not, the Color of the accident report sheet given to you is Green or Red. Green, the other party or their insurance pays for your and the other car's damage. Red, you or your insurance pays for your and the other car's damage.
sharfraz
and also WHITE..
white paper is given, when the fault is unknown..
shariqq
Oh... I've never seen that. When would a fault be unknown? (Unless you are talking about the incompetence of the cops! :P)
sharfraz
lol..that's not about incompetence...
in a situation., someone bumped your car in your absence while parked...this gets you white paper from the cop....
shariqq
..and who covers for the repair in the absence of a comprehensive insurance? The owner of the car that got bumped, I'm sure. And there goes the no-accident clause.
sharfraz
certainly...the owner's insurance covers..,
Dubai Knight
In the instance of a white copy, you normally have to pay the insurance excess if you actually claim. The white copy allows you to get the car repaired without claiming (to protect your no claims bonus) as all garages need an accident report before making a repair.
The rules are all different in Sharjah!

More 'basic'.
The policeman has the final say.
If a local hits you, its your fault.
If you hit a local, its your fault.
If you are Indian and you hit anyone, its your fault.

The one that made me open my eyes was the local who, when taken to court by the expat who he had hit, said:
"It is my country, if you had not come here, I would not have hit you!"
I think he won!

Have you guys noticed those skid marks along the inner-most lane of SZR? You won't miss them.. there's one every few meters and most of them leads to the center island. Amazing.
On average, how many road accidents do you witness in a day? I guess for me I see around 2-4 along SZR from DIC to Deira.

Well after finally arriving and being here now 4 days... I understand why so many do have a driver now LOL. I was considering one myself. One of my husband's friends had his driver pick us up to go out and it was great! Didn't have to drive and face the terror of the roundabouts or the DUI after we closed the club
sharfraz
yeah, in al ain you have a lot of roundabouts but the traffic is very less.,
jebel hafeet would be cold right now.., its a nice place there.,

I meant company driver of course. He's driving a car (not a Sunny fyi) and not a minibus, and I'm the only one he drives to and from the office that's why I said "my" driver. There.

Both :D
Uhmm kidding...I've had a couple of accidents, both my fault and both times I hit an Indian. Not to mention both times I was half asleep. I took responsibility. One time it was in the middle of a roundabout and I told the guy to move his car cause he's causing a lot of traffic and people were getting pissed. He wouldn't cause he was scared he would be blamed somehow. I told him I'm takign responsibility so it doesn't matter, and that the police will be pissed. He didn't listen and needless to say, the policeman was pissed :P So yeah move your damn car if you are in the middle of the fricken road!!! We know you had an accident, but if you can drive it, move it!! That's all oO
pinoy1
^yeah, true.
As a pedestrian, I once tried to cross in a corner street (within a zebra crossing of course) when suddenly out of nowhere (it happens all the time, you look once- all clear, then when you look again there's a vehicle about to hit you), two cars are coming straight at me. It seems they're trying to compete on who can hit me first. Unfortunately they hit each other. Haha! m$#$%ers!
farthestpoint
I just had an accident last week. Hahahahaaa :) My car's front kapuch.
sharfraz
your car's front is kaput...was it a red paper you got...even it was not your
fault., or it wasnt a local who hit you which made you get green paper...

My husband and a couple of the pilots he flies with have taken me out to show me how to drive around here.. I decided to be Posh and broke but i'm hiring a driver LOL.. they are crazy here ! Or maybe wish he is a very nice person.
A person I know was gifted the S-class that scratched his Accord, because Mr S-class didn't want to drive a car that had been scratched anymore (paperwork left to assistants!)
I'm still hoping someone with a Cayenne does the same for me!

Now why would you want to own a Cayenne? Its a VW Toe-Rag in disguise! Mate had one for about 2 weeks and gave it back. Distasteful, horrid Kubelwagen!
