Seeing as that sort of thing is a BIG crime in this country - no!
All qualifications have to be attested, companies normally get references, check for previous convictions etc etc like anywhere else.

I tend to think it was the type of porn that he downloaded, and the only time people go to jail for porn is when it is kiddie porn. If it was hardcore he would have more than likely been fired and that would be that. Using company property for things other than work is an offense, but to be jailed for it -hmmm. Makes me wonder. If everyone was arrested for downloading soft or hard core porno the jails wouldn't be able to accommodate everyone!

^I wonder this jail time too. Aside from kiddie porn, perhaps he charged porn on his company credit card on company laptop? Hmmmm. Also aren't we often accidentally directed to porn. I wanted a certain website domain but it's taken. It's a porn site with such a cute name. :( :cry: :cry:

Generally speaking no checks will be made for an American Passport holder. But the Company may however like to know what he was doing for the 2 year period, this I presume he will have to lie about.

Any suggestions what is good story to tell for not working for 2 years. I'm asking because, I'm in a similar situation, but I was not working because I was making hefty profits in real estate trading.

Well, you can say you were a freelancer, or a consultant, or you decided to resume higher education (don't necessarily have to provide a degree), had the opportunity to travel extensively. Was in a mental institution. :lol:

Tell him that yes, American employers will check his background because he will have to provide his social security number (thank god!!) Tell him to go to India for a job. Also regardless of where the company's home office is, companies do previous employment reference checks and sometimes certain information is given that is "off the record". I don't think anyone is going to help your friend out, regardless of what country he is in looking for a job.

Well how do you fill the gap? There is no database, but the social security number is your identity nationally and tells everything there is to tell about a person.

thats true. however, when trying to find a job overseas for a non-american employer. I don't believe that would still apply

if he's an american citizen, then he'd have to register as a sex offender, you can say wht you want, but he went to jail for kiddie porn and he's gonna have to register that whenever he applies for a job in the US.
if he's leaving the states, then the US embassy might let the country where he resides know that he's a registered sex offeneder. sex offenders are tracked worldwide, so good luck to him.

Somehow I get the feeling that when you talk about a "friend" it may very well be you. If I am wrong, I apologize. Your friend is filth buddy. And you want to help this pervert get a job? Yeah, let him come to Dubai and if he acts out on his sickness and can't help himself around children, he won't see jail in this part of the world. More than likely if caught (and I'm sure he would be found), his worst nightmare would come true. Like I said earlier - let him go to India to find a job, it may be a lot safer for him there.

I think your friend (you) should head to Saudi. Just make sure to tell them of your crime when you land there. They are very sympathetic to things like this.

anyone who's been in jail for "porn" is only for kiddie porn and has to register as a s ex offender, so his record will follow him everywhere.
what he did is beyond disgusting, so i'm glad he can't a job.
